As a male, I'll be honest about my perspective. I had a close female friend before I met my girlfriend, and I'm not gonna lie I kind of had a crush on her but she made it clear she wasn't looking for that with me. Sometimes we borderline flirted, I think she did it because she liked my attention even if she didn't like me like that. My girlfriend and her were friends and became closer friends and I grew distant from her out of respect for my girlfriend, but I never admitted that I liked her or was attracted to her to anyone.
