Can guys really have female friends and female best friends?

I recently met this really great guy. He seems like everything I need and want. I know it is still early so I don't want to get my hopes up too high. We were having a conversation about jealousy. He asked me if I was the jealous type. I explained to him that I was not but there should be boundries lines that are not crossed and respect for your partner. He than told me that he has like 2 female friends that he has known for many years. One is the mother of his God son and the other is his friend from high school. He also told me that guys and girls ask him for relationship advice sometimes. I think the female friends have been to his house. I asked him was there ever anything between them and he said no, never. He said that he never kissed them or anything and has never wanted to be physical with them. He said one of them knows about me. He said he told his guy bestfriend about me and his mother. Can guys really just be friends with females? Should I be concerned? What should I do?

Yes I think they can be. My best friend is a guy and we've been good friends since we were young. As long as each person's intentions are made clear, I think that it works out well.

NO, there is no such thing. For a while, perhaps. But, they always ending up having sex and/or terrible amounts of jealousy. RUN for the hills.

Yes, multiple times! And each time, the third party was a guys with whom were were both friends. So, I thought to myself that there would be no problem. And... I was very wrong. If people think they can get away with it, they will choose sex over the friendship most times. And then they will try to justify it, for example, he might say "Well, she wasn't taking care of his needs," or "I never really liked him anyway" or "that's getting back at him for such and such" or he believes that she is now falling in love with him instead, etc. The whole thing is a MESS! I will never do it that way again. Friends/aquaintances are often necessary but, closer friends/confidants are doomed to ruin your relationship.

I don't know I guess for myself personally maybe I have doubted it because to me he's attractive and I feel like females probably want to be all over him. But he says they see him as their gay best friend almost, except he's not gay lol. Maybe I doubt it because I have been lied to and cheated on in the pass by my ex boyfriends. =/
