What should I do if my girlfriend says she’s pregnant but I’m sterile?

After college, I had an accident that left me sterile that even my family didn't know about. I've always been okay with not having children, so I moved on and focused on my career. After my master's degree, I found a great job and my family pressured me to get married, but I wanted to take time for myself.

Eventually, they introduced me to the daughter of a family friend. We hit it off, but looking back, she agreed with everything I said, which felt weird. I told her I never wanted children, and she said it was okay. We had sex (with protection) a month ago, and she started pulling away after that. I assumed she had lost interest.

But now, out of the blue, she and her entire family showed up at my house and claimed she was pregnant with my child. I was stunned. I was sterile. I hadn't told anyone. I was completely lost right now. Any advice?

I'm not judging you in any way, but why on Earth would you not be telling your family or prospective partner that you're sterile? I get not wanting to tell people who don't need to know... but those people of all people really need to know that information... Kids are a make or break thing in a marriage.

In any case, to answer your question, I think you need establish 3 things:

Start by telling everyone involved that you had an accident in college that you were told by doctors left you sterile.
Then follow that by getting medical tests done to verify that you are, in fact, sterile. Tell everyone involved the results of those tests.
Finally, explain to everyone involved that you used protection when you had sex with her.

If the reality is that it's next to impossible for that child to be your's, you need to prove that to be the case.

If you are truly sterile, that cannot be your child. Insist on a DNA test.

If you had sex, once, with a condom, even if you are not sterile, it is highly unlikely that you got her pregnant.

Dies your girlfriend know you are sterile? Have a talk with her, tell her everything you know about it, and see if she will cone clean about having sex with someone else.

First things is to go to a doctor to be sure at 100 % you'er sterile (becuase you can be in majority sterile but sill have a possibility to get. woman pregnant many women were told they were sterile but have been able to get pregnant when they got in their 50s (becuase before getting menopause there's a high risk of getting pregnant before not being able to get pregnant ever again) so get tested first then after do whatever you want stay to leave but you'll know for sure it's not your kids.

I would tell them you are sterile and how it happened.. Then I would say we wore protection so how is it supposed to be yours? Then see what happens if she pushes things just get a DNA test from somewhere you trust and then don't worry about it..

Sterile is a variety of issues from low sperm counts and anaspermatogenis. Some mean it's impossible. Some means it's just really really unlikely. Some mean it's just difficult. So based on that spectrum. If you have tests showing zero sperm counts you should share that. Otherwise you will just have to wait for the birth and request DNA tests she should understand given your medical history.

Does she know about your condition, if not tell her, and watch her reaction, and she will probably be pissed about you not telling her and if you really need to know a DNA test, after the baby is born, I'm not sure if they can do one before that.
It would probably not be the worst idea based on your condition, but miracles can happen, you never know.

Check your fertility ans do a paternity test. The baby could be yours. There are lots of people who’ve been told they can’t have kids but end up getting pregnant or getting someone pregnant anyway. Even vasectomies aren’t a 100% effective.
