What would you do if your girlfriend is pregnant?

Weve been only seeing for 5 months.. I need your opinion cause I might be pregnant.. Especially Christian guys, what would you do? I dunno, i am dying rn.

You would not be able to wipe the smile off my face. My girlfriend and I have lived together for 11 years and we have three children. She and they are the center of my universe. They are the most beautiful little gifts a woman can give to a man.

Frankly, as slipshod as we tend to be with birth control, it is a wonder we don't have ten children. It does not matter, I would love them all.

Believe me, I have been there. I know that feeling of fear and worry and how it would effect your life. I also know what it is like to lose that feeling.

Another woman I dated aborted my baby without telling me. When she did it was the most devastating news I have ever gotten and it still haunts me to this day. I failed to do what a man should do and protect my child. I repeat endlessly in my head what I could have said or done differently to change things.

When she told me I broke down in tears and the next two years were like a bad movie. I drank too much, crashed my car, slept with any woman who would sleep with me and then swing the opposite direction and want nothing to do with women. I put my career at risk and all I could think about was the little baby that I failed. To this day I just want to hold him/her - I don't even know which - and say I am sorry and how much I love him/her.

Then I met a beautiful woman at a business reception for my boss and - long story short - I am happier than I thought possible. The first time she told me she was pregnant I cried - but because I was happy. (Our first two - boys - were unplanned though perhaps they should not have been a surprise. My little princess was planned.)

Yup, I was scared a bit, but I knew what a man should do and I would never look back. Best decision I have ever made.

If my girlfriend told me today that she was pregnant, I would pick her up and give her the biggest hug and kiss possible. I would - as I did with the others - start going to every store in the area to "test" the toys for sale. Nothing but the best for my son or daughter!!! I would tell my children that mommy has a baby in her tummy and that they were going to have a baby brother or sister. Then we would celebrate.

Because you know what? Once they put that squawking little gift in your arms you will find yourself thinking, looking down at your little bundle, "Gosh! I just met you and yet I would throw myself in front of an oncoming train to protect you!!"

There is stress, there is worry. You try to calculate the costs - and it is not always easy. However, it is more than made up for when one of my little munchkins sees me come through the door and runs up all excited and yelling, "Daddy!!!"

This is a good question.

For me, I'd "do the right thing" and leave it at that.

Just a minor story...

From August 1990 to January 1992, I was in a couple with a beautiful wonderful woman named Cynthia whom, after 2 months together, I was sure that I wanted to marry.

She was a virgin, but I did not know this when we first got together. After all, she was beautiful and we went to nerd college where the ratio was lots of horny guys to few girls. We were effectively living together in my apartment those first few months and something realized one day was that she was a virgin. I quietly and calmly asked her if she was and she nodded yes. That was fine I told her - we'd take it at her pace. After about another month or two, I discovered that she didn't want to do it until she got married. I was fine with that because, by this time, I was certain I wanted to marry her.

She remained a virgin the 17 months we were together.

And now to why I bring up this story...

Several months after she dumped me, we were in my car and talking and she was telling me that she'd ask her BFs before me "What would you do if I got pregnant?"

I was a bit puzzled considering she wanted to be a virgin before marriage, but I was MORE puzzled because she never asked me that question...
I asked "Cyn, you never asked me that? Why not? Why didn't you ask me that question?"
She said "Because I already knew the answer."

It was one of the greatest compliments that I ever had in my life. You see, she knew that I was good with kids and would be a decent dad - I was told that by many women - furthermore, she knew that I was still hopelessly in love with her. I would have married her, of course, but, also, since I was willing to wait until marriage to have sex with her, we would have been married before she got pregnant.

Sadly, I never really got over her and that is one reason why I chose not to have kids - I really couldn't see myself having kids with anyone else. This is why my next girlfriend and then the one after that (my wife) had hysterectomies before I was with them.

I guess abortion is not an option?
Where I live in Europe there would be not second guessing about what to do. Most of women would abort. But first I would say it to the father, especially if you are dating / he is your partner. I’m sure he would like to know about this before you doing anything.
Make sure your pregnant, tell him if yes. Then talk about whether you want to be parents. You have to be ready for this, and it would be better to love each other.. five months of dating is not enough for having a baby (but this decision is up to you).

Firstly, confirm that you actually are pregnant. Might be will likely cause a guy to think you're paranoid or attempting to trap.

If indeed you are pregnant, and follow your faith, then certainly you have a responsibility to the baby, as does he. Many families have been formed this way in the past, and the trend will likely continue.

If I were in the situation, I would step up to support the girlfriend and baby. That's the adult thing to do. While I realize that abortion is a modern day option, I personally abhor it, and even if I had to raise the child on my own, I would, as they had no say in their own creation, but I'm not going to deny their right to exist, as mine wasn't.

Hopefully you both can reach a conclusion, assuming you are pregnant, and it's certainly something to pray about.

But you have to remember that you've had time to process this information, the guy hasn't, so don't take what he says then to heart and give him space. Later you can try to talk and figure out what you want to do. When it comes to that conversation it would be a good idea for the girl to list all the things she would be willing to do. For example, if you are okay with an abortion bring it up. Don't leave it as an elephant in the room. Guys maybe scared to bring it up, but most would be thinking about it.

I'd dump her, because her child isn't mine as a point of fact. I AM a Christian guy who believes absolutely in celibacy until the wedding night. All Christians are commanded to uphold this as well as the command not to date or be married to an non-Christian. If my girlfriend came to me pregnant, I'd know that she not only cheated on me, but that she'd broken several of God's laws. I'd break up with her because if I can't trust her to be faithful to me or God-fearing before marriage, how could I trust her to be faithful during our marriage? The major point of dating as a Christian is to find someone with whom you can "be fruitful and multiply". Marriage is the only channel for bringing that about in a Christian's life, and what would be the point of continuing to date her if I can't bring myself to marry her (trust her with literally the entire rest of my life)?

Bottom line; if my girlfriend came to me pregnant, I would dump her and try to suggest a good Christian Councilor.

it would have been better if you faced this topic before having doubts. life is a serious thing. unfortunately each partner reacts differently, posting your question in an anonymous forum can't give you any reliable answer or solution. u should take a test first, then talk to him and see if u both wanna keep the pregnancy or not. if he doesn't want, sorry to say, either he voluntarily keeps supporting you financially or you need a lawyer and you will get his support once you can detect if he is the father. in that case also he has the right to grow and educate the kid, later on in the years. I hope the both of you are duly enoigg to take such a serious decision. good luck. once you carry a phaetus, kids come first and they are little innocent creatres, with no responsibility, l and need both parents in equal measure. never forget this.

I was smart enough to never have that problem. You have to do what’s best for the kid not what is easiest or best for you. If the father will make a poor dad you’re in trouble.

That’s the problem with sleeping around without birth control with guys/women who aren’t good relationship (long term) or parent material

Im a christian, but i would be happy as can be, the main thing is to discuss the situation with your boyfriend, as long as your both happy and decide on it thouroughly then i see no problem taking in a new form of life into the world and becoming parents for sure.

Personally i'd embrace it l. But your still early in your relationship so the two (relationship and pregnancy) can be dealt with seperately. If your relationship works out great, but if not you find a way to co-parent. Just remember if thjngs dont work out yoh meed to put your child needs first, and they deserve a full relationship with both willing parents.

I hopefully won't be getting anyone pregnant any time soon, but if I were your boyfriend I would try and take responsibility and find a way to get through it with you even if it's a struggle. I guess this would really depend on the guy, and there are always other options to go through. I wish you the best of luck though 🤗

A Christian would be much more thoughtful about avoiding this situation but if I found myself in this dilemma, I'd pray to God and ask for the guidance to make the best of the situation.

After confirming the child is mine as you haven't been together long, and with the understanding, you follow your faith, I'd stand behind you completely and support you and my child.

I'd rather make an honest woman out of you, then a bastard out of my child.

Whatever you do, be upfront and honest.

How many weeks? If 10 or less I'd consider abortion. If over 12 I'd begin looking for adoptive parents. All this is of course predicated on your inability or unwillingness to keep the child. A child is going to change your life in ways you can't possibly imagine.

I'm atheist, but I'd find out what she is planning on doing with it (abort, adopt, keep, etc...), if she aborts it then oh well, if she puts it up for adoption then imma try to help get the process going, and if she keeps it then imma be there best I can for the kid, I never really knew my father so I'd want my kid to at least know his.

If I was Him, I'd stay with you TIGHTLY, be with you in ALL circumstances, IMPLORE you to keep the baby, claim it as my own, and protect, nurture and provide for my new family, regardless of the difficulty. (This is my Christian opinion)

The first thing you need to do is go to a doctor to make sure if you’re pregnant or not. Then you need to think about what you want etc. then decide if you want to tell him. Go from there.

Pregnancy is not an accidental, most of the couple know that it will happen without protection. If they have done so the kid need someone to call mumma and papa. Marry your girlfriend or at least raise the kid. It's not the responsibility of the girl only.
