What's more important in a relationship: intelligence or emotional maturity?

Question

One person is highly intelligent but emotionally immature, while the other has average intelligence but is emotionally mature. Which one would you choose?

Actually being emotionally mature means that person is also intelligent, not in the academic sense but definitely know how people work, psychology, behaviors, and you tend to understand yourself a lot too. They also tend to be very wise in their decisions. Although despite this I would want a good level of academic intelligence too but I do not understand what you mean by average intelligence as there is no solid way of measuring someone's intelligence as of now, a common misunderstanding is IQ equals intelligence which is not the case but if that is what you're referring then not really since someone with around 120-150IQ would be more suitable for me as I can relate to them more and have better conversations with. Aside from that I would say emotional maturity is more important but only to a degree and that I wouldn't get into a relationship when one trait is severely lacking.

You really can't gain emotional maturity without also gaining much knowledge. They go hand in hand. Our experiences bring on a new level of wisdom and knowledge. You might not get more book smart, but you get a lot more street smarts or life smarts as you age and experience new things. So both are important and needed for a relationship to flourish.

Lasting happy relationship with someone , that understands the foundations and boundaries of the relationship, if one or both of you are immature, then that relationship probably won’t last the long haul. Intelligence is pretty much on the same lines as emotional maturity , intelligence comes from things you learned or experienced in your lifetime , it doesn’t necessarily make someone smart , but definitely wise

Misleading premise . Emotional maturity features intelligence, it is intelligence applied. The spirit of your question could be: What's more important in a relationship: Cognitive efficiency or Emotional intelligence? In that case, I'll go with emotional intelligence, but I'll miss the cognitive aspect in that relationship.

Women have sexually selected men to be more intelligent. You would expect this in cold climates since it requires planning and execution of plans to get through winter alive.

In the reverse men have no need for women to be intelligent.
