Do you feel about the old book "Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus?

This book was very popular at one time. Do you believe that we truly do communicate differently and are wrapped differently emotionally. Do we approach things that differently? I know what I think, but I would like to see what you think?

Ok, so in all honesty YES, we do communicate differently, even if our intentions are the same. Guys are SUUUUPER linear in noting things. They view the world in broad strokes first and then hit up the particulars. By contrast, women live and die by the particulars and then stand back to take in the big picture. We're all doing the same thing, but tackling it from opposite angles. (Or more precisely through different means of inductive and deductive reasoning.)

Ever talk to a guy and you see his eyes glaze over? You've been talking too long and lost him... or you added too much detail and lost him... Time to reel him back into the conversation and also to control how much you're planning to share with this guy. (No guy has staying power for an in-depth conversation about which window dressings will frame the off-white boarder of your kitchen window, for example. He just wants to know which one you want him to hang. That's what the guy wants to do... action that will be rewarded with the "my hero" treatment afterwards.)

Often enough our motivations are also different. As Pitbull would say, "You think with your heart, I'm thinking how to get into your skirt" (Chasing Shadows ft. Havana Brown). A gal sees a guy and assesses his potential to provide her with strength and solidarity. A guy sees a gal and things of at least ten naughty things before he focuses on anything she's specifically saying or doing. We're distracting to them whether we want to be or not. That's just a fact of life.

The Mars-Venus book was popular for a variety of reasons, and the multi-level pun of the title itself (Mars, God of War v. Mars the planet... Venus, Goddess of Love v. Venus the planet) explains how different our styles and motivations might be. I've skimmed the book itself back when I was in a book club. It's ok... nothing earth shattering that we didn't all know about guys and gals already.

I never read the book, but I do believe that God created men and women to be different, but on the same team. Men in general, and Women in general had different views on things. Often times hold different things as important.
