It goes 50/50 both ways depending on the type of book you're writing. Romance is when it gets all fucked up tbh - I can't lie, most of the romance books I've read have been by women and they've either had incredibly toxic/abusive men and relationships or they were written fine, I can't personally think of any examples of men writing women badly but most of my favourite books have been by women and they're all fiction and fantasy not romance so the characters are written well enough
but really it's easy to make a character cringe if it's someone you're idealing/putting on a pedestal, only the best writers don't do that

Cringe. Women think they know everything about everything including guy things. They "hate" us but yet emulate us in every way.
