Men have more choices today than in the past. But, you have to plan how you're going to work and live, and if you become partnered, you have to have a flexible partner, too, especially if, as a man, you want to stay home to raise the kids.

Because women still don't make the same salaries as men in the same jobs in the majority of cases, it is difficult for a woman, who still has to gestate the babies, to transfer child-rearing responsibilities to her husband. .

There are some women who choose not to have children and choose to have careers. Personally, I find work stimulating and making money rewarding. Child rearing, on the other hand, can be a thankless pursuit for about 20 years before you see the fruits of your labors. It's all "investment" for the future.

Work is an immediate payoff in money, and then there are the longer-term payoffs in praise and promotions. Much easier to acquire than all the child wrestling, whining, crying, diaper changing, toilet training, homework aiding, bicycle teaching and the long lists of what you need to do to successfully rear children.

If all the men in the world switched up, there would be a different outlook on what it takes to stay home and raise kids. It's no paradise.

Some people just enjoy working. Also a lot of men aren't dependable enough to be a provider. Sometimes working is easier than staying home with kids. Lots of different reasons. Personally I like staying home raising my kids. I think working any type of job would be to slow paced compared to what im use to and I genuinely just enjoy my kids and being a homemaker so for me it works out.
