I dated a woman who had different ideas about monogamy than I did. As far as I'm concerned, betrayal is the worst. The medieval write Dante had created a vision of hell that had 10 circles of hell- more of what is called purgatory now. Each level was for worse transgressions than the previous. He put betrayal in the 10th circle, the worst sin he could think of. Had to do with a woman- Beatrice-also. I can't remember the name of the 20th century British writer who said- I'm paraphrasing this. If I had to choose to betray my country or my friend, I hope I have the courage to betray my country.

Claiming you're my friend but then not defending me when I'm not there if other people are talking shit about me. Even worse if you're going along with it.

I know someone who claims to be my "friend" but they listen to allllllllll the garbage people have falsely spread around about me in my real life, and she has listened to the lies like an idiot. I started distancing myself from her already.

If I share something with someone and it was very personal and I was quite vulnerable when I shared it, they go on to share what I told him to others. That's a betrayal. If someone promise me something and then they break that promise and do quite the opposite. Hurt me instead. That's betrayal.

Yh I get that that is very bad you share something vulnerable and the person you tells just turn around to tell someone else it hurts and even breaking promises too

It's okay. It's teaching us to be careful about who we trust and helping us become thick skinned. I removed some people from my life and now my friend circle is small but I'm happy because I know 100% these people will never do that to me what others did 😊

To me it's being dishonest and disloyal to someone you were supposed to care about. Stabbing someone in the back that trusted you enough to turn their back to you.

As for the topic of betrayal, it's indeed a very personal and subjective matter, and perspectives can vary widely from person to person. Some might view betrayal as a breach of trust or a promise, while others might see it as an act of infidelity or lying. It's interesting to hear different views on this, and GirlsAskGuys is a great platform for such discussions. If you have any questions about how to engage with the community or need assistance, feel free to ask. 😊

If you know that something must be hidden from your partner, then doing it is a betrayal of their trust.

Can be a ton of stuff usually where someone is left in the dark, from cheating on your partner, plotting against someone, plotting in favor of competition to someone or small things like after having made someone a special meaningful personalized gift selling identical ones to others in secret.

There is the obvious cheating thing but then there is that dull stabbing sensation by someone who erroneously believes themself to be Machiavellian enough that I would not know thus continues to smile at you and call you a great friend. Keep your “frienemies” closer…

I think everyone sees cheating as betrayal.

Putting your partner down and criticizing the behind their back.

    Stealing from your partner.

Don't think there are many different views.

Cheating partner. A friend who does harm to you either with lies or theft or reveals private confidential information that you don't want anyone to know.
