When is a relationship beyond repairing. Can you keep going anyway into old age?

I'm 5 years from retirement

I'm not in a happy marriage

I feel slightly trapped because to end things would be awfully difficult

To continue is tolerable

I could go to counseling. I know they would say to end things and create happy life. Generally I'm a risk taker. But starting over age 60 seems too much.


How did I get here you might ask. I spent the last 22 years raising 2 daughters and that was fulfilling. Now they are away on holidays. They'll be back next month but eventually they will move out

I have had breakups in the past because I no longer had any interest in that person

My current situation is different. I respect her just not happy.

I've learned in marriage and family classes in university that this always happens but I didn't learn what to do about it... you can Google it... mostly probably just focus on eachother. Bring the spark back

Stay in the marriage because you will need each other as you get older, but get a girl on the side to take care of your needs.

I can remember breaking up with 6 year girlfriend
And Saturday morning having zero to do. Literally zero. Maybe go to bicycle shop and browse.
By comparison the awful relationship is heaven🙂
