4.6K opinions shared on Relationships topic. You have to choose to forgive them, and hope they won’t do whatever it was they did to you ever again, Basically the ball is in your court on whether you want to forgive them or not , and whether you want to give them another Chance or not. We can all choose forgive someone , but forgetting what they did to us is another question , so again it’s up to you on whether you want to continue moving forward with them or not. If a girl cheats on me , I might eventually forgive her , but I will never forget , so I just end it with her immediately because I am not going to forget what she did to me period. So it comes down to why they were dishonest with you to begin with and comes down to whether you can forgive and forget

u 1 yYou forgive because that means letting go of your anger, and that is good for you. Prolonged anger hurts you and not the object of your displeasure. But forgiveness doesn't mean forgetting that has happened. Learn from your mistakes and don't repeat them.

You cannot harbour bad feelings about someone and then expect yourself to feel better. You gotta let it go and that's why you have to let him know that you forgive him. You can start to heal once you've done that.
The Bible says that we have to forgive people and that gave me the nerve to do that myself.06 Reply- 1 y

Moving on won't mean moving on WITH the guy. Dishonest and shady behevior should never be tolerated. You deserve better.23 Reply

1 yIt is not easy to forgive someone who has been dishonest in a relationship. Just remember trust is earned.

Anonymous(25-29)1 yForgiving someone who was dishonest is a process that often requires you to shift your focus from what they "should have" done to what you need to do for yourself. Instead of dwelling on the clarity you deserved, try to reframe it as an opportunity to release yourself from the hurt. This means accepting that their actions, while painful, may have been a reflection of their own limitations rather than a direct measure of your worth. You can't change their past choices, but you can choose to stop letting their dishonesty dictate your future emotional state. The key to moving on is to forgive not just them, but also yourself for the pain you've carried and for the hope you had for a different outcome. By letting go of the anger and the "what ifs," you create space to heal and build a sense of peace that is no longer dependent on their apology or your desire for a different past.

1 ySo you cannot get closure with that person, so you have to resolve on your own?
Getting a new perspective is the answer. I had to learn some things about people... others and myself.
In the learning and understanding and new perspective, is power. That helps you be confident in yourself you won't run into the same problem again or will be able to detect it and deal with it. Without understanding, you will walk in fear... which will guide you right into another mess just like driving backwards at high speed using rear view mirror.
So you need to learn. what the lessons are, that is additional discussion.
00 Reply 689 opinions shared on Relationships topic. You can forgive him and still move on. Forgiving doesn't mean you have to be friends or reconnect with that person again. It just means you've resolved to not hold what they did to you against them.
It's okay to forgive but still let go if you feel betrayed or hurt. That's a part of life. I wish you the best.

1 yPeople often believe forgiving is necessary in order to move on and let go. But that's not the case. That type of thinking keeps you stuck and holding onto the pain because not everything is forgivable.
When someone hurts us we can feel overwhelmed with different emotions. Instead of focusing on forgiveness, focus on letting go of the emotions attached to the hurt. Use rationalizing and reasoning to redirect your own emotions. Just like you have when you stated "maybe they were acting out of the emotional capacity they are capable of" Someone's behaviour is a reflection of who they are and their past. Eventually this type of reasoning lessens the hurt of the betrayal, which helps you get to a point where you move on from it.

1 yThis can only be achieved when you take in the concept that holding a grudge hurts you not them. You are the one who suffers inside when you do that. It rots you from the inside.
If you want to be happy in life you have to embrace the concept that people are flawed. They do bad things. All of them. You never know why they do what they do. Sometimes they are just dealing with their own demons and can't control themselves. Sometimes they just are in an evolving learning process themselves and have not yet learned to understand the harm they are doing. Life is an ongoing learning process that doesn't stop until you die.
You cannot control what other people say and do. But you can control how you react to it and incorporate it into your own life.
Choose to forgive when forgiveness is warranted, and to forget when it is not. If you don't you are only hurting yourself.
00 Reply 408 opinions shared on Relationships topic. Sometimes, forgiveness takes time. It's not always overnight. As long as you're working towards forgiving them every day, that's progress. Remember, forgiveness doesn't always mean reconciliation.
12 ReplyIt always sucks and feels bad when you get rejected. Everyone has their own journey in life. At times you will not get the answers you seek. Every relationship has two sides to it. You may never find out what the other person is\was thinking. That's okay, you'll move on without them, time will pass.
Let the other person have their time to process what happened, maybe one day you'll receive your answers. Sometimes it's the break or distance that will help you get your answers.
I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear, but one day you'll see or receive your answers. Just keep your eyes and heart open.
Hope this helps...
00 Reply662 opinions shared on Relationships topic. You do it by moving on and letting go. People get hung up on what ifs over what has happened. In the end people will show you who you are. You can choose to ignore it and not learn your lesson or cut them out of your life like you would a cancerous tumor. As cheesey as it sounds time heals wounds so long as you move forward. Don't be tied to your past and stay in the present by learning from your mistakes.

1 yI think you just say "I forgive you" and then do the best you can to move on. There was someone that was in my life, that I can't ever get over how they hurt me. Maybe if they apologize to my face. Maybe. But once broken like that, it is nearly impossible to get over it.
00 ReplyI have fallen in the same trap as you. Ask yourself "Do you need an apology?" Do they need to say it out loud that they hurted you? What does it give you? Sometimes there is no closure, you just have to move on
