We all need jobs yes to pay for things. But when your a workalochlic you miss out on family time, lose your marriage also, never have time to have just for a day of fun. Its sad how us people work so hard and have very little time off except holidays.

I don't see my work as work... my work is play. I do construction work. For me it's about helping people more then making a bunch of money. I work very hard but enjoy my work because no matter what I do i look it like an opportunity I'm grateful for. I'm glad to be dirty laying brick because I'm outside doing it with friends, I like painting because I'm inside in a/c dancing around listening to music doing it. I like doing roofing because it's like a full body workout. I dont work as a means to an end or for the outcome of money. I work because I like knowing "I did that", when I'm finished. It's accomplishment I pay myself with more so then money... if money is how you measure wealth I'm slightly below average. But, I look forward to work, I'm thankful for every opportunity. I might not look like I'm getting anywhere to everyone else but I don't think it about getting somewhere it's about how you got there in the end...

Thanks for the mho. I feel like i left the family part out of it thou. Family fits in because they are who I call when I need help... The Kids see my attitude and want to learn what I do for work, it seems fun. Yea I wish I had more time for my girlfriend and family but she knows that to... there have been times I didn't have work to do and all we had was each other. we almost broke because of it... I live in the moment and every moment I try to do what I love that doesn't mean I love work more then family. I try to love everything the same, and i found balance. Sorry I left that part out. I think the world makes us believe you work so you can have fun later, after work... It makes this problem where you have to choose to do what you dont want to, so you can do what you do want to... that a problem. When you enjoy everything the problems gone.

I worked a crappy sales job for 20 years. Thee were years that I never had a vacation and if I got sick I just had to suck it up and go to work anyway. I wanted to take a day off to see my son being born and my boss would not let me. I had to threaten to quit. I actually hoped that he would force me to quit so I could look for a better job.

My wife and I worked an insane amount in our 20s before we had kids. We were able to retire at 30 and enjoy life more with the kids because we worked so hard while we were young. We maintained a social life the whole time too.
