Is it true that people are more their habits and patterns more than anything else?

While it’s true that people can change with time and with intention or willpower if they really want to, but what we tend to consistently does become our default or inherent nature with time.
For example if someone has a history of having only casual sex, will he ever truly be satisfied with just one woman?
If someone has a habit of running away from conflicts or shutting down, will they ever have a healthy relationship unless they learn to change their pattern?
If someone has a habit of constantly lying or taking no accountability, would they ever be able to be honest with themselves or others?
Is it true that people are more their habits and patterns more than anything else?
