Being Naive. What is the correct definition of someone being naive in your opinion? And do you think it's a bad thing to be naive?

If you are naive, you can easily be manipulated or misled if you run across a person with evil or selfish intentions, and obviously that's not a good thing.

Men actually value INexperience in a woman - we like to be the first one to show you things, whether it's our favorite restaurant, a beautiful location, or a new activity - but inexperience isn't necessarily the same thing as being naive. You can never have seen the Grand Canyon, or never been snow skiing, but you can still know enough about those things to know what to expect. That's inexperience - you know what it is, you've just never done it before.

People who are naive are easily convinced to believe lies, are easily conned into joining cults or adopting fringe belief systems, and they are much more likely to get tricked into agreeing to things that are against their own best interests when they're around bad people. If it wasn't for bad people, being naive wouldn't really be a problem, but unfortunately, there are plenty of bad people in the world who would take advantage of a naive person.

My definition is simpler...

Personally naiveness to me means not getting exposed to a lot of things early on. I personally grew up in an extremely strict household so it wasn’t about not being smart, it was just that I didn’t know much about people’s intentions or how things worked outside of my home environment. We were incredibly sheltered. And I think although I’ve learned, I also think naiveness comes from someone’s personality of seeing the good in things or people and I although I see this as good, others would see this as naive.

@spartan55 When I was a teen I was a bit resentful, but I quickly learned why they did it. It didn’t necessarily prepare me for adulthood, but I did meet people that eventually advised me similarly and I learned on my own. However I can’t say it would’ve been better for them to not control me so much because I see my family as very good people and usually bad things happen to good hearted people and I know I might’ve inherited their good heart. People used to tell me that “I had no malice” and I think a lot of people see that as dumb and naive, “easy taken advantage of” , but I think it just meant I wasn’t quick to assume the worst in others. It might have left me a little unprepared at times, but it also taught me to approach people with openness. Now I am not as naive, but I think it’s shaped my positive outlook in life while still having the experience to think a lot about situations before being too optimistic about them.

Being naive, in my opinion, is the equivalent of being immature and ignorant. It's naive to assume everyone likes you. It's naive to think none of the people in your circle wouldn't step on you to get ahead if they had a chance. It's naive to get into a relationship with someone without getting to know them deeply by asking questions to understand their views, interests, goals in life, sense of humor, sexual desires, and just their overall compatibility with you.
