Despite what the poll says, people run around thinking they will find that perfect person and everything should be rosy from the start. And that's why with dating now a day's everyone is screaming "next" after the first date or first day of convo. So fast to try find that instant one! But life does not work like that. My friends with benefits and I went through massive arguments in may/June. But stuck it out and we always had a lot of things that that connected us but we also nearly gave up multiple times but it's Bern over a year now and we have reached a much more loving, affectionate, stable place. He's not my "partner" ... but it teaches me about persevering through obstacles is very rewarding. Both people need to try tho and learn to adapt and become better people for eachother. One sided won't work.
Both. There needs to be an innate type of compatibility to begin with. A relationship needs work and effort for longevity, but if you keep fighting and misunderstanding eachother, there is a limit to how far you'll go. No one is perfect, but if personalities are compatible, it'll feel natural to adapt to eachtoher's vision of "perfection" over time and through effort and communication.
What matters more though?
Compatibility matters more, I'd say, but no relationship works without adapting to each other. No person is completely perfect. But it's better to find someone who needs less effort and requires less effort from you.
Well said and so far you're the one I agree with the most

There is no such thing as "your perfect person". You meet people, date some, and come to the realization that you'd be happy with one of them, even though they have their faults.
Some people call that settling, or lowering your standards.
I call it reality.
I don’t really believe anyone just finds their perfect person. Most of the time, you meet someone who is a great fit in some areas, but the relationship becomes strong because both people choose to show up, communicate, grow, and put in effort.
Compatibility matters, of course shared values, respect, attraction, and similar goals make things easier. But even the best match will struggle without effort. A truly great partnership is built over time through trust, commitment, forgiveness, and learning how to love each other well.
So for me, it’s less about finding a perfect person and more about choosing each other every day and building something meaningful together. The “perfect”relationship comes from effort, not luck.
I believe it’s both, but mostly the second one.
You don’t “find” a perfect person lying around like a hidden Pokémon. You meet someone who is already pretty good for you (sparks, values, timing, the way they make you laugh at 2 a. m.), and then the two of you choose, every single day, to build the rest.
The perfect partnership is handmade.
It’s built in the small choices
choosing to listen when you’re tired,
choosing to apologise first,
choosing to stay curious instead of right,
choosing to keep the inside jokes alive even after ten years.
The first click is luck.
Everything that lasts is effort, patience, and deliberate love.
So no, I don’t think your soulmate falls from the sky fully assembled.
I think you recognise a person who feels like home… and then the two of you renovate that home, room by room, for the rest of your lives.
I believe we can build a perfect partnership together
I feel you have to build with a person, no one is perfect but their has to be respect.
You all sound very enlightened, if you guys can comment on my situation it would help me a lot! As it is something similar to this post. I need advice.
No one is perfect. Relationships are grown from understanding, compassion and pain. And if you are lucky…. In the end there will be love.
The perfect person doesn't exist. We're all just different shades of f***ed up.
Finding the person that is perfect for you.
If we stop listening to social media, meeting others would be positive
Mostly effort but not perfect
Neither. 🤷🏻♂️
