Such as people who spend years in seemingly happy marriages. Just to find out someone was having affairs and had MANY even long term boyfriends or girlfriends along the way. Without anyone suspecting anything.

Most people can only hide it for so long. But some people can compartmentalize it so well that you don’t.

People can hide whole parts of themselves when they’re motivated by desire, fear, or ego.

Some are good at compartmentalizing, they separate their roles, control their routines, and keep emotions locked down.

It works, until it doesn’t.

Double lives always look clean from the outside, but they cost a lot internally.

Nobody carries two identities without something eventually slipping.

I live a very compartmentalized life, although not with a relationship, but with work.

Nobody knows anything about my work life outside of work and at work, nobody knows about my private life (excluding bacground checkers).

This makes everybody absolutely bonkers, but I like it this way.
