Has your partners ex ever ruined or tried to ruin your relationship?

Have you ever been in a situation where your partner was great, but their ex was the major problem? Either they wanted your partner back and were doing everything they could to get him/her, or they hated you, and made it known all the time, or they were just way too involved in your life for you to feel comfortable. Did they ever succeed at ruining your relationship or what did you do to get them out of your life so your relationship could thrive?

Yes and today I say yes with a lol following. It happened with an ex of mine and too with my partner. here's the thing and I know this may sound cocky of me but I know when I'm loved, I get my partners signs, love language. I knew my ex loved me before he said it and I knew my partner did at a time too when he was trying his best not to reveal too much of his feelings for me, and for some reason I trust that if he's the one his love for me will grow more over time. This is my stability, my attitude, I say this because apparantly you need to trust two things when facing this type of problem, yourself and his love for you. Although with that said you can only handle so much.

With my ex ex she tried to act superior or what ever to make me insecure but inside I just smiled at her because I thought she was silly. Like please what are you up to? He and I had at the time a stable relationship, the two of them had had a stormy relationship. I trusted that he was genuinly in love with me so there was only so much harm she could do. She did not get me to a stage where I felt insecure or jealous, she amused me. I ignored it when she was acting like that because I knew she wanted a reaction from me and I could not provide her with it. Time passed. She changed her little games and we got along just fine, my ex and her would speak only when neccery but with her and I it went much better, I forgot she was my ex ex and the games she had pulled before. We NEVER talked about him and I know he was curious if we did, or expected us too. Please, lol, he wished! Or feared? Or both? He was the only subject I think we never talked about. Her life went on too of cource and she would share that with me before him or what parts she was comfortable showing me I got to understand she didn't do him. But I never said anything about it, had to come from her mouth if, not mine. Out of respect of my ex I was not too close to her, or she with me, we had our positions the way we liked it and the way too I gathered he was OK with. I understood he was over her but there were stuff that had happened he clearly had to process as well and I think he did that during our relationship as much as he could, I am sure he would still always have a scar, but I was not unsure, I knew he loved me. The scars she had created was really her young ego self, I think, that is why I think she gave me such attitude before because she was still somewhat like that. But from what I could tell she did make progress, mature. My ex was no perfect human being, his defect, vulnerability is in my opinion what caused me to leave him but I do know he loved me once and I did him as well. That was a knowing calming me in this whole absurd situation. I do think I came in too early into the picture and she proberbly wasn't ready for it so suddenly her old position her ego was threaten. I am sure she did not want him back but I think her ego wanted him to mourn her more or that she could snap her fingers and he would come running? Her image of him got to be different because suddenly he was with me. She was not ready for me to be there that soon, that suddenly I think or her thinking we would last as long as we actually did but I don't think I can brag about it it wssn't that long after all but she I think thought we would be over in a week? She had more of a problem and making it more of a problem than I did. I felt I stood between two people she and him, that both had bandages on, bleeding and I was the only one without any.

On to the next one. I will try to keep this short, lol, already written a novel. In the beginning I would try to brush this off, but what later became a trust issue was because of how my partner dealt with it. Trying to keep it from me. Ex wanting him back once hearing about me. Touching him in ways not appropriate, turning up when she was not welcomed, should have had. In one way once I knew about it I could not take it personal as she didn't know me but in another way it did make me feel well I don't know what, not good anyhows. Simultanously there were flirtations going on I could tell these girls were into him but he was not flirting back but tried to be layed back and have fun I think. He tried to cover up for so long what had happened with his ex that this got to be so big and so bad, it did not have to be. He said her changing attitude surprised him but that he was already set on me so that was the direction he went. I felt he was sure and he had decided on me, but I could not figure out why he was now so much more sure. I think it could be because of what she did, it evoked his fear of loosing me, got him to get that he did love me. There was a change.

On top of that I forgot my puch line, so of cource here is more text, here goes: What I think is too important is that your partner handles the difficult ex in a right good way, and do not create trust issues, make you insecure. Sure exes can get under your skin being disrespectful but if your partner knows how to cope, treat you it helps.
What I think you need to come out of it unharmed are these 1 you know, trust your partner loves you, not her. 2 you trust yourself knowing you deserve his love and know she is no threat ( well a she in my case) and the final 3) he handles it the way he should what I mentioned before.

Tbh, lots of people have, first with my hubby and then with a guy I was interested in afterwards. Some guys just keep moving along as if they have options and it makes others think they still have a chance, which creates problems for the faithful woman they're with.

Don't get me wrong, some women are like this as well. It's upsetting either way.

If someone’s dating a narcissist or other dark personality. This is common… they feel entitled to have control over someone yes even if they initiated the breakup. Once someone gets into a new relationship they have lost control.

So they may… Try to seduce them. They may try to intimidate you. They may smear campaign you.
