Girls, How do you deal with growing up poor?

It's embarrassing and has effected every aspect of my life. I've never dated because I'm too embarrassed of someone finding out I grew up poor. I'm afraid of even going outside sometimes because I'm afraid of it. My mom didn't have a very high standing job. She worked for an apartment complex cleaning out the apartment and fixing broken things Before people moved in. She had to clean the bathrooms including the toilet. I got tormented by my father's yuppie Family for it. Everyone on my father's family hates me and treats me like scum because of it. I got beat because of it. How do I deal with it.

I don’t think you should be ashamed of it at all. I don’t understand how people can feel good about themselves putting people down about such vulnerable things. It says more about them than it does about you.

Why would any of that matter when you're 45?

Because I'm traumatized by the abuse I've received from my "family". When your poor and your family is rich they tend to torment you to death about being poor to the point you want to kill yourself to make the pain end. I can't move on from it. It hurts too much. they destroyed my self confidence and self image.
