Have you ever had (or been the victim of your partner having) an affair?

I have, by two different partners, and both times hurt badly. I felt like I did something wrong to make them want to cheat on me even though they were the ones in the wrong. Still, it made me feel like I could have done something different to make them happier with me.

So, have you ever had an affair whether it be physical or emotional? Has it happened to you? I won't judge you if you were the one to have one, I am just curious as to what drives a person into doing it.

Not that I know off, I did once have the reverse situation where I wasn't aware a girl I was dating had a boyfriend. Right when I met her they had a big fight so she was open to me and fell for me quicker than she expected. But ultimately was taken, she cheated on me by making plans with me and then not showing up spending time with him instead. When I learned he was her boyfriend I understood that better at least, but I am still sensitive to the whole making plans then ghosting me thing considering she was talking behind my back at the time.

Yes, at least once. According the first ex, she was seeing some guy on her door to door cosmetics route. No idea if that was actually true or if she just came up with that to get me to stop being in love with her.
The 4th ex started cheating on me at least a year or two before we broke up but, not being a jealous guy, I didn't mind her having male friends and she always introduced him to me as her FRIEND, David!! So, as I had no reason not to trust her, I always assumed it was nothing more than a friendship!! Things started to add up when she couldn't even remember my fucking birthday after 10 years together!!

I have and when I found out about it in one case I simply left as I was in a foreign country with her and I didn't want to continue living there anyway. So I just moved back to the United States which was actually in retrospect a big mistake. The other time it happened I was married to the woman and I kicked her out of my house and breathed a deep sigh of relief that she was now this guy's problem and not my problem anymore. She of course didn't last with him either and now she's some other people's problem in Canada or I don't have to think about her or deal with her. After. Again, she became other people's problem and I am relieved by that.

Yes, when I was younger, around 21, dating a girl for around a 15-17 months, started a relationship with a co-worker with the same first name as me.
