Are you the jealous type?

Apparently the last fellow I was interested in sabotaged the relationship bc he was crazy jealous of anyone I spoke with aside from him. I had no idea... but God saved me bc being in a relationship like that would have made me nuts.

Mind you, this includes a waiter or colleague from work or a church volunteer or even a kid/old person I'm helping out.

I thought about what he did to bust up the chance for even a friendship to last... and realize I'm a bit of a jealous type too. Nothing crazy, though. I can distinguish between a gal who has romantic designs on him and a work colleague... or an elderly gal from church who needs a hand with some packages, for instance. Perhaps that's more "pragmatic awareness" and not specifically jealousy, though. I'm not sure. (I've always felt that jealousy is irrational.)

No, I’m not the jealous type at all. Jealousy, in my view, stems from insecurity or a need to control situations that are inherently fluid and unpredictable, and that’s just not how I operate. I’m deeply independent-minded, which means I prioritize my own growth, values, and path in life above all else. I don’t see the point in wasting energy on envy or possessiveness because it doesn’t align with living authentically. Instead, I focus on building connections based on mutual respect and genuine choice. Relationships where both people are there because they want to be, not out of obligation or fear.

If I notice you’re interested in someone else, that’s fine; go ahead and explore that. Have fun, pursue what excites you. Life’s too short to hold back on curiosity or new experiences. But understand that it won’t involve me anymore. I’m not going to linger in the background or compete for attention; that’s not my style. You choose to be in my life every day, just as I choose to let you in. If at any point you feel like you can find something better suited to you elsewhere, by all means, go shoot your shot. Test the waters, see what else is out there. I’ll even wish you well on your way. But as I’ve said, that chapter with me closes right there. I value my peace and self-respect too much to settle for anything less than full, undivided reciprocity. In the end, it’s about freedom for both of us: you to chase what you want, and me to continue on my terms without resentment or regret.

I was only jealous when going through my divorce, but never again, as if I cannot trust my partner, then there is really no reason to be jealous as it is a doomed union.

I trust my partner 100% until they give me a reason to not trust them. My wife returns to China for four weeks every year, without me; I trust her and I encourage her to go. I never think about the possibility of her being unfaithful to me. However, if I saw some guy trying to make advances on her, I would give him one warning and then start using forceful and injurious measures to persuade him to see the error of his ways. That has never been necessary.

I'm the opposite of the jealous type. However, I will say that there's a certain expectation in a relationship of how to handle social scenarios. If a guy hits on my partner, I expect her to be polite, but address the fact that she has a partner, whether I'm beside her or not.

Something like:

"I'm flattered, but just letting you know I have a boyfriend (or husband in the case that I'm her husband)."

If she lets a guy hit on her or engages in flirting, I'm not cool with that and will leave her. I'm not going to subject myself to being with someone who doesn't respect me.

Have been when i was younger when it wasn't in my right to be as i was looking in and being jealous of girls i like that were dating or close to the guy, but now when i get invested in a girl and they turn out to be dating i just usually feel a mix of relief, disappointment and acknowledgement because there is nothing i can do about it, she's probably happy if it's been a while (like a lot of guys i will look her relationship status up because im curious about her) and if i crossed the line it would be unethical, a bad act of character and would just make me feel ashamed or afraid later of some nasty consequences.

I'm not remotely jealous , although I have been accused of the opposite which I don't think is fair either , as I gown older even less and less , I just can stand control freaks , of either gender in any circumstances, including business.

In my nation's culture, men are more jealous and sometimes possessive. Thats why we tell our women how they gotta wear, if I find it more revealing then I'll tell her to cover up. If another man has guts to try flirting her then I'll punch the sh*t out of him.
