It’s such a lazy outdated stereotype for a man to be regarded as immature for playing video games. Games got lumped in with toys and of course toys are played with by children. Meanwhile a man or woman that would spend 6 hours binge watching a show on Netflix or staring into the void of social networks is somehow thought more of? .. make that make sense ?


Additionally there is the optic that gaming is associated with those who would neglect their responsibilities in a relationship or a household when any hobby or interest that would take you outside the relationship or home would not be as negatively tarnished.


There is also this “unspoken rule” that men must always be hustling , earning , working , fixing and building. Should a man relax in any way that looks unproductive people get all weird about it. Gaming gets judged harder that golf? , than going out drinking? That staring mindlessly at a television or tik tok scrolling


Unbelievably there is also still the view that gaming “leads” on to violence , like some sort of gateway drug , that gaming leads to poor social skills which has now been proven completely incorrect. In fact it can promote teamwork , problem solving , co-ordination and plot twist-social connection 😂😂


I would not interfere with any of my partners hobbies simply because. Every person deserves their time in that pursuit and gaming is no exception.. everything in moderation though.
