So, my girlfriend of 3 years has had some very bad news lately, her Dad has had a stroke and has had to go into hospital. We spoke at long, and she said that she would want to be single so she can focus on spending time with family. I understand this wholeheartedly and will do whatever I need to do for her. The issue is, me and her are very close, this is the strongest relationship I've ever had- and we've proven time and time again that our love is too strong to break.

Have you ever been through the same situation? Have you found it was easier being single around that time? I don't know if it's her just feeling overwhelmed with everything, or if it's her being completely true. Part of me is staying just in case she needs the support, but the other part of me wants to respect those thoughts. What should I do?

I am a daddy's girl. My dad passed away 5 years ago. When my dad was sick and always in hospital. It was really hard to go through it by myself. It's when you need that special someone next to you for support. In your case I would give her space she might just want to have extra time for her dad. I would also just stick around in case she does need an extra shoulder to cry on. Even though she wants to be single you can still be that best friend and check up on her every once in awhile.
