Would You Go On Vacation With Someone You've Just Met?

A guy at work has just booked a flight and hotel for himself and his new girlfriend.

They have only been dating for the last few weeks, but they might have known of each other previously.

This could enhance their relationship, and surprisingly not expensive because two can travel for the price of one.

What is your opinion?

Good luck to them I hope the vacation works out for them.

If he is serious about his new girlfriend taking a vacation with her so soon is a mistake.

Obviously they are going to have sex together on vacation, and they should wait until they are married.

Cancel the vacation and instead go to local restaurants for romantic meals, and book a vacation together when they know each other better.

The guy was paying all the expenses for the vacation, but would your opinion be any different if the female was paying all the expenses?

The options are odd so I didn't vote.

Just bc they're taking a vacation together doesn't mean they will sleep together. Calm tf down. And also if they DO sleep together why should you care? Leave them alone, it's their life.

Ofc he's serious enough about her to want to pay for a vacation with her. If he didn't see them sticking around he wouldn't suggest such a thing. Going away with someone is like declaring to your immediate circle, "I'm off the market, don't come looking for me" unless they say otherwise.

Traveling this way is also a litmus test... You WANT to be serious about this person and don't want to waste months dating for no reason so you travel, which strategically

1. cuts them off of family and friends who would "be the bug in heir ear" gossiping about every little thing you've done together...

2. cuts them off the daily routine and resources they'd normally use to fake out the other person (e. g., I'm busy... I have to pick up... etc etc)...

3. sets them in a completely different environment for you to observe how they do with others (either people YOU know well since you've picked the place to travel or strangers).

It's a funny little way of recalibrating "home court advantage" to watch and observe the other person's character. And so you have a lot of "worst trip ever"/"best trip ever" stories involving dates.

If he asked me to go with him on a vacation then I would hope that he wouldn't expect me to pay for it.
It used to be that the person who asked would be the one who paid for it.
Same if he asked me out on a date then he would be the one who had to pay.
But that was before the women's lib changed everything. I wouldn't know who would pay for what anymore. The rules are different now.

Have done this. I was to present a paper in Europe and asked a brand new girlfriend if she would like to come. Flights were an additional cost but hotels are a fixed cost.

Overall it wasn't a lot more to have that fun.
