“Back Door”

[Sangita93]

When a guy says he wants to "try" something – without mentioning it in clear words – he wants to try sex or some sexual activity with you. It generally means he is exploring options with no or reduced commitment, testing your interest, or initiating a new physical relational for sexual pleasure without promising a long-term outcome. It often indicates he is noncommittal, curious, or wants to keep his options open while enjoying sex with you and your company in general. In many contexts, this refers to trying a new sexual position, activity, or toy to see if it brings pleasure or excitement to the relationship, if you are already with him for quite long period of time. Saying "I will try" or "Let us try" often allows a man to avoid a firm commitment or avoid being "pinned down" to a specific outcome. He may be "testing the waters" to see how you respond to a new suggestion, gauging your comfort level, or testing your level of interest in him. It can mean he wants to do something but does not want to feel guilty if he cannot follow through, it is giving him "plenty of room to either say 'yes' or 'no'" at any stage. You can ask for clarification – in clear word, ask him directly what he means by "try." Ask and define boundaries if this new activity / arrangement means you are exclusive. Observe his actions and reactions. Watch his behaviour to see if it aligns with his words. If you are uncomfortable with the vagueness, it is best to ask for clarity to ensure you are both on the same page.
