3 moI think everything has become about gaming the system to such an extreme that it kinda lowers people's ability to have empathy.
You put a face on at work, the store, your friends, your family. Most people seem to forget it's all an acting game.
And then you meet someone you think is attractive or you feel comfortable around and there's this scorecard you compare eachother against. You'll never show it to eachother. In fact it's normal to lie about it right? How many people do we cut loose because we were embarrassed or they said something that reminded us of a comment section post we didn't like or they asked for something that put an expectation on the relationship.
We live in a world where people are extremely selfish, emotionally separated, numb and stressed from having to worry about if their car breaks down is that going to lead to one too many missed payments on the rent.
The whole time the internet tells men to think that not only are women evil but thay are evil too. Same thing the other way. So it's like everyone is being poisoned mentally right now to hate themselves, hate the people around them and have skepticism for anything good.

3 moPeople’s Values, entertainment and Social norms changed so reality followed suit. Clearly, they were always people who cheated, but society didn’t tolerate Degeneracy like that. Casual sex wasn’t tolerated like that and if you acted that way in the open people would actually treat you like An outcast.
In the 50s and 60s actors who played husband and wives slept in separate beds now it’s common place to have sexual activity and cheating promoted in film, television, and music. so people see casual sex without attachment as normal and no big deal. Back in the day if you’re a promiscuous woman, other woman wouldn’t even wanna be associated with you for being labeled a slut and now Being a slut is celebrated and encouraged by academia and pop culture.
there are tons of studies that prove that people who engaged in a bunch of casual sex can’t pair bond so being promiscuous ruins your ability to create the chemical phermonal sexual relationship bond that keep relationships together in men and even more in women. Looks like casual, sex with more than a few people Relegates you to a life of casual sex so the best you can have is relationship of convenience when you don’t have a strong emotional bond..
when you’re that run through and destroyed, cheating is the only way to feel any excitement.

3 moBecause of the exponatioal growth of big cities and the arrival of social media more and more people suffer from apathy.
A normal person has about enough empathy to accommodate about 120 people at the same time. But because we live in bigger cities and most are online more that they should they "connect" with far more than 120 people. We don't have room to have empathy for everyone. And in turn we start to develop apathy. We just stop caring. And the most freaky thing of it all is most people don't even realise it.
Simply put, people just stop caring.
( Don't get me wrong, people have always cheated, but we didn't talk about it, because we cared to save face or to prevent humiliation but we just don't care anymore.)01 Reply

u 4 moIt's not. Not anymore than it used to be anyway. If you've been the victim of it, then I am sorry, that sucks. It's happened to me too in one relationship, but that was just 1.. the others were just fine loyalty wise.
If it were as common as you were thinking then it would be because we've lost the ability to see past our own wants and needs. Still, I dont believe in your claim here.20 Reply

My aim on GAG is to decode modern relationships and expose the red flags nobody wants to admit 😉
Cheating feels more common now because it’s easier and more visible. Social media, dating apps, and DMs keep temptation one tap away. People avoid real communication, chase validation, lovebomb fast, get bored faster, and ghost instead of working on problems.
Weak boundaries, fear of commitment, and thinking “I can do better” on repeat makes loyalty feel rare, not natural.00 Reply

Selfish people only truly care about themselves, and what they feel is best for themselves , So if they aren’t receiving what they were originally after with you, they will eventually cheat on you , for someone else that they feel is better than you are. I have hooked up with so many cheating wives and taken girls’ through the years that lied to me about being single when really she wasn’t. I don’t date guys’ but there are a lot of guys’ that do the same thing to girls’ because they are selfish as well. It happens do often these days because most people in general are selfish and only want what they feel is best for themselves , why you shouldn’t never date someone that is begging you to help them financially. I no longer will date a girl that doesn’t have her shit together that can’t live on her own financially, I have came across so many girls’ that are looking to be catered to so she doesn’t have to work and spend your hard earned money. My ex use to be a team player with me until she decided to be selfish and compare our lives to others’ thinking she deserves that lifestyle , so all of a sudden when finances got tight and she drained my wallet ,
I was all of a sudden a piece of shit in her eyes and not considered a real man anymore because I didn’t have the money to keep bailing her
Out financially. She is a user , like most selfish people are , that have no dignity or respect for anyone but themselves. I feel sorry for whichever guy falls for her shit , because she is a user and she will do the same thing to him that she did to me. So for me to get into a relationship with a girl ever again, she has to have a good head on her shoulders and be a team player , Not a fucking user.00 Reply- 3.2K opinions shared on Relationships topic.
4 moOver history, cheating has always been reasonably common, especially centuries ago when men ruled and women were subserviant.
In today's world, with the Internet, 24-hour media and social media, cheating is more publicized.

4 moIs it?
Common relative to what? History? Your expectations?
Common based on what? Your experience? The GaG forums?
I'm constantly amazed by how much discussion on this site circles around cheating and related concepts of possession and control.
I've never been in a relationship in which cheating is even a conceivable option, for either of us. There is an abundance of quality people.
Even on GaG, every time the topic comes up I'm impressed by the queue of people that say they have never cheated and never will. I believe them.

Cheating has been common for a long time and it has been more common among women, though society generally hates to admit women's faults for most of the last 100 + years. Social media has helped to expose their common immorality, and that is partly why many men avoid relationships and marriage now because they have seen the reality of all the bad behavior, abuse, lies, and theft.

Anonymous(36-45)3 moWomen have no morals, dignity, or class anymore, because of the internet they have this illusion of choice and never settle. They are constantly looking for something better.
Men have given up trying and because of how women act there is no value in having relationships.

3 moBecause it is easy. In our parents' day, you would meet people in person or through friends. Now we can easily connect with people we'd never meet normally. Add in the decrease in "morality" and you have your answer.
