There is a clear transition when you move into being in love. The excitement has grown into comfort. You no longer question your feelings, that person is now a part of your life. You naturally think of them when making decisions and feel safe and secure with them

Falling in love is unnoticeable really, you may like someone, crush, have lust all that but you won't realize you've fallen until you are in love
So it's kinda a trick to say I'm falling in love cause I don't think we notice it.
Then being in love is just something you feel, you realize after you've fallen without noticing it, it's something uniquely to them beyond that of crush, lust or liking.

Falling in love means you’re transitioning to that stage of your relationship or whatever it is you’re flaking in love w, like a dog. Being in love means you’ve surpassed that transition, you’re already at that stage of love. Like going from one town to another. Travel from your hometown to another town is flaking in love, once you get there, you’re in love. Complete analogy.

I think you mean between loving someone and being "in love". Easy:

* When you love someone, you put them first and do what's best for them, to the best of your ability and judgement. It's real and it lasts.

* When you're in love with someone, you're more concerned that it gets reciprocated than you are about whether it's best for them. Falling in love is the fantasy aspect that proceeds being in love, which isn't real and doesn't last.

I am not sure but according to me falling is love can be considered the initial stage where one gets attracted to someone either physically or by their personality and being in love is still feeling attracted towards the person after knowing them.
