Why do some mothers turn emotionally abusive after the father leaves?

After today it just boils my blood how kids are treated because the father doesn’t wanna be with the mom. She bashes me, our family, and especially my brother. My nephew called and she hung the phone up. He wasn’t allowed to speak with his father without her around. I was gonna call his father for him. His father definitely loves him! He knows that! She took the phone away.

She is a product of her wounded inner child. Come at it from an angle of curiosity rather than anger. Be curious about why she is doing the things she is doing. If you see her acting out ask her why she is doing it. A lot of times people react and if they react badly having to explain themselves requires them think about their actions. People deal with adversity in a lot of different ways and there may be other factors as well. Alcoholism, lack of sleep stress. She probably has fear of abandonment and that can lead to a controlling personality. So try not to be angry, be curious and ask questions.

Normally this is how I think but not this time. She is just in this mode of “I can do what I want” and very disrespectful towards everyone

They go from abusing the guy to the kids. The mom is too emotionally damaged to be a partner or parent

She doesn’t turn emotionally abusive, she always was, the father was just the main target. Now that he’s gone, she takes it out on the kids instead.

And yeah, what you’re dealing with sucks but it’s not proof of abuse. If you want to take the kids away from her, you need solid evidence. Isolation is not enough
