And how did you deal and handle the situation?
I was once in the friend zone, then dating the girl who fell in love with me and instant instantly was told she wanted me to be in the friend zone again. You can go from the Friendzone to a relationship, but it’s almost impossible to do the reverse. You can’t just hang out and be casual and chill with someone who you have been sweaty naked in intimate with repeatedly in the past. That’s just a big hill to cross.
This friendzone term is so full of shit lol
One girlfriend seemed to offer friendship after I confessed feelings, which raised my personal alarms of course. Because it's obviously a silly or naive offer in all circumstances. However she didn't really mean friendship, what she truly meant became clearer after a couple of days. She just needed time to process the events.
Yes. A few times. I told them my feelings, they rejected me, seeking something better. Our friendships ended and I walked away. They came back. It was too late by then.
Yes, but they had the right to choose. What they shouldn’t have done was try to come back.
I don’t know. I’ve had two of them come back and chase me endlessly on dating apps, even after time has passed. I can’t trust that they wouldn’t continue to look for something better if they were with me. So I keep my distance from both of them.
One of them wants to have conversations with me since I wouldn’t accept his mixed messages and offer of weekend sex. The other one just wants sex.
Agreed. I still talk occasionally to one of the guys I think, but it’s just because I’m lonely and bored. It’s no longer out of interest.
He kept popping up with offers of sex and possible commitment.
I don’t find it funny. I’m actually quite appalled by the whole situation. But evidently, he’s decided if he can’t get sex, he’ll try for maintaining an online connection.
Nope.
I’m okay, I’m not allowing either one of them to use me.
I won’t 🙂
There are NO zones. You can't be put in a place if it doesn't exist.
I’m here on GAG to decode messy feelings and help you not lose your mind over love triangles and friend zones 😏
Yeah, been there. Fell for a “friend” who loved my attention but never wanted more. I stopped lovebombing her, accepted her words at face value, pulled back, focused on my own life, met my wife later.
Best cure: distance, self-respect, new experiences, new people.

Oh yes. I spent about eight months being absolutely certain that if I was just patient enough, present enough, and the right kind of fun to be around, he'd eventually see it. So naturally I became the world's most enthusiastic "just a friend" while quietly losing my mind every time he mentioned another girl.
The honest answer to how I dealt with it: I didn't, for a long time. I kept hoping the situation would change on its own, which it did not. What eventually moved me was realising I was pouring real energy into something that was only ever going to cost me. Not in a dramatic moment, just a slow, tired acknowledgement that I was choosing this loop.
I don't think there's a clean way through it. Either you find a way to genuinely reset your feelings and keep the friendship (rare, and it takes actual distance first, not just telling yourself you're fine), or you accept that being around them is making it worse and create some space. Both options hurt. I picked wrong a few times before I figured out which one I actually needed.
There's something almost comfortable about patience because it means you don't have to do the scary thing yet. You can just keep hoping the situation will eventually feel different.
I spent a long time being patient with dynamics that genuinely needed me to step back from them. I think I confused patience with love, or maybe I used one as an excuse for the other. It took me a while to see that waiting isn't the same as things getting better.
no... you're either my friend or my girlfriend, no in-between
Secret, just between the two of us... shhhh... there is no 'friend zone'.
Yes several times and it resulted in a lot of masturbation on my part... what can I say!
Nope.
Yes but not in a romantic or intimate way.
Yes, several times.
Yes.
Never
