Did you ever have a friend that you didn't really like deep down, and if so why did you remain friends with them?

Yes , honestly I have , and its been on multiple occasions , basically I have misread the person initially , thinking they were particularly skilled or the like only to find out down the track that they were dishonest.

Id say 5 or 6 over many years , so I guess it shows my poor judgement.

Yeah usually it was because I pitted them and figured I'd be nice but then they usually would say some of the rudest shit to me and I would always think why did I even befriend this loser cunt.. I always eventually ditched them tho.

Yes, well for one thing you call a lot of people “friends” to be polite, when you aren’t exactly friends more like acquaintances, I have many “friends” of this type who I may or may not really want to spend much time with.

But the question makes me think of one specific girl, she was part of my friend group in college, but I thought she was v. immature and needy in her relationships including w/me. I felt she was draining to be around sometimes. But, I remained friends w her because of two reasons, one is that she was part of my group and I didn’t want to try to exclude her from the whole group. The other is that she had flashes of self awareness that made me kind of feel for her.

For example I remember one time after a hookup when maybe she could tell I didn’t really approve of some of her choices, she said something like “Shelly you’re “V. I. P. in the hall of fame", I’m “R. I. P. on the walk of shame".” I might not remember it exactly right but I remember it rhymed like that, it might sound like she was criticizing me for thinking I was better but that isn’t what she meant. Anyway it kind of made me feel for her, there were other conversations like that also, so I always had hope that she would grow as a person. And guess what she did, at least I think she did, we don’t see each other often in person but the last time I saw her two years ago she was doing well and she seems to be doing well on social media so I am proud of her and glad I stuck w her.
