Personally, I would advise cutting him loose. Most of the men I know are like this. They were taught to look down on you, because you're female. Those of us who don't treat women like this are "gay." I'll take that as a compliment.

Some men are two faced. They treat you one way when they are with you and then trash talk you when they are with their boyfriends. This may hurt more, since you see a different side and may find it hard to believe he is like this.

Now, most, if not all, of the men I know HATE tears/crying. We have no defense against it. Even if you're having a great time, it translates differently. So, it is possible this was his defense to your crying, but then he started it by hurting you. Calling someone "stupid" is classic.

Tell him to hit the road and try to find someone better and more in tune with decency. I know being alone can hurt, but it is better than this kind of abuse. And don't think, or start thinking, that you deserve it. No one does. Oddly, we can see it as abuse when it happens to someone else but not when it happens to us. We will tell them to break up, but not follow our own advice when it is us. This may be because we think we can't do better or should be punished, having been abused this way as children, but we shouldn't.
