Does long-distance love really work, or is it just out of sight, out of mind?

It depends on who you are and what you want in life I will tell you this though in a relationship that you live next door or whatever you know same city you've learned things because you have that contact that physical contact touch kiss

But in a long distance relationship if you know what energy is everybody in this world has energy is made of energy that's what we're made out of and when you're in long distance and you read somebody's text are you here their voice on the phone you can feel that energy 10 times 20 times deeper than a physical relationship and once you can do this it changes Who You Are because with your words or your texts you can speak as if you're talking face to face eye to eye like they're standing right in front of you and when you can feel something that deep it is one of the hottest sexiest things you will ever ever learn in your life it will teach you about yourself it will teach you about other people and we'll teach you how to read people in a heartbeat

So I'm not in a relationship right now I can get in a relationship with the girls that lives close to me but I'm not done yet with feeling this energy and growing with it because it's who we truly are we are all nothing but energy we're not even this body if that makes sense but it's true and when you can connect like that and become one like I said it is the most beautiful feeling you've ever had in your life it will teach you so many things about life and who we truly are

So no matter how you feel about it if you put your all into it it doesn't mean that it's going to last forever depends on how far they live if you can visit blah blah blah but the one beautiful thing that you can gain from it is to become one with somebody if you're on the East Coast or on the West Coast it will teach you so much that's why I say long distance relationships are beautiful and it goes even deeper than that really

Is it POSSIBLE for it to work out. Yes, almost anything is possible.

Is it LIKELY to work out? No. The vast majority of long distance relationships fail because of the distance.

Success depends upon the separation being temporary and having a known resolution date, on BOTH people being incredibly committed and prepared to make huge sacrifices for very little in return for a sustained period of time - most people aren't capable of doing that, and of those who are capable, many still choose not to.

There is another factor: the human brain has a grieving mechanism that causes people to start feeling less and less connected as the separation exceeds about 90 days. It's the same mechanism that allows you to recover from a death - after about 90 days, you start to disconnect so that you don't go crazy and you can get back to living. But this means that people who are fully committed on Day 1 are usually drifting after 90 days, and after that 90 days, commitment tends to start dropping off.

The reason most responders are telling you that it doesn't work is because they have tried it, invested a lot into the effort, and lost anyway. Most people won't learn from other people's mistakes - they have to learn the hard way by trying and failing themselves at great personal cost.

There are rare examples of it working out - usually along with a shorter duration of separation, but those are rare, and the vast majority won't share that outcome.

It only works if it's only for a short period of time like 3-6 months or if the relationship is already well established and you're both willing to make the effort of staying connected while away from each other, but again it only works if it's temporary, otherwise, I'd say it's a complete waist of time and not worth the effort.

I find them to be total nonsense. If it's temporary and you can see the finish line, cool. But the people who do it for like 2 years and still don't move to where the other is seems ridiculous to me. These things rarely work for a reason.

Long-distance can absolutely work, but only with real effort: consistent communication, emotional honesty, and clear plans for the future. If there’s no endgame, it turns into slow-motion ghosting.
