Is it normal to be 18 with no relationship or sexual experience?

Hi, I just turned 18 and I have never had a relationship before. I hear people my age and younger talking about their relationships all the time, my friends laughed at me for being a virgin too and it makes me wonder what's wrong with me? I feel kinda miserable.

It's completely normal. Average age at first sex is 17 or there abouts in most Western countries. 18 is completely in the normal range.

That said, and sex aside, if you were 25 with the same question I would say you are missing out if you haven't tried to dive into a relationship. You learn a lot about yourself in relation to others and massively gain life skills in collaboration and conflict resolution... not to mention that being in love is the grandest thing.

Just lean yes on going to social gatherings, joining community groups, volunteering, whatever and you'll be surrounded with great potential partners.

I didn't have a girlfriend until 19 and we didn't have sex until I was 20. We have been married for 11 years and together for 15. Most people are gaining baggage and not a healthy experience. They then bring that baggage into the next relationship and it adds up cumulatively. It is wiser to mature and find someone else who is mature instead of jumping into something just to fit in and feel normal. If you base you wants, needs, values and morals based on what everyone else does then they aren't yours and you are just a thoughtless sheep.

Nothing is wrong with you. Being 18 and a virgin with no relationship is completely normal. People lie, exaggerate, or rush into things just to “fit in.” That’s not confidence, that’s insecurity in disguise.

You’re not behind; you’re just not lovebombing or forcing it. Real connection > random situationship. The right first kiss, first relationship, first time will feel way better when it’s with someone who actually deserves you.

I was almost 25 when I lost my cherry. From what I'm hearing these days, there's a LOT of people that virgins into their late 20's and early 30's!! They just won't tell you.
