How did you first realize you were truly in love with someone?

It was multiple things, I had once imagined my dream girl that would be an unrealistic 10. So I figured if I ever met an 8 by comparison that would be a phenomenal girlfriend. My ex scored higher than a 10 on that standard because she had everything I imagined but added a few things that are now essential for me in a relationship. So mentally she truly captured my heart in ways that if the feelings went away i'd still love her deeply.

Then there was the spiritual aspect, things happened that most people wouldn't even believe. But the most telling part was when I felt her soul for the first time and got that "OMG ITS YOU" feeling. I knew spiritually she was my person.

And then of course I had an immense bond and immense feelings for her. These I take the least serious because people can catch feelings in general that doesn't need to make it real love. For me feelings aren't a constant thing either, they will randomly just not be there which scared her at first but eventually she accepted thats just how my body works and it means nothing to me when its absent. It always came back full force a few days later and I was going through exhaustion when I didn't feel them so I was probably sedated.

I was so sure she was the one until the relationship failed beyond our control. She's since gotten with someone who makes so much sense for her I understand why I had to let her go in a fate sort of way. Similarly she happened to come into my life right at the start of lockdown and left right before the end of it. So if you believe in fate you could argue this relationship was a match made in heaven, but for the purpose of helping each other grow and get past that period rather than something that lasts.

So now I am wishing to meet the next girl I can love on that level, because once you had love that pure you can't settle for less.

Yes. It built up to a point where it was obvious enough for me to see. The turning point was when I saw her and my first thought was "I could marry that girl". It was completely unsolicited in my internal dialog, and I never thought that about anyone before.

Maybe she does. I don’t know whether or not you’re the same guy I like. If you are, I’m not there quite yet, but I am quite interested. I find you attractive, sweet, intelligent, sensitive and funny. Comfortable to be around, too. Good with teaching kids.

Such things take time. Some people know immediately. For others, it takes time. I don’t think my Nan immediately loved my granddad, but he was persistent. He was also quite attractive, smart and an interesting person.
