It does not take much to say it but it may have a lot of (negative) repercussions if you say those words without giving a serious thought about the possible consequences.

Simply saying "I love you" has no meaning if it is not really meant. I always have a tired smile when people say those words without thinking of the meaning. It is basically the same as when you say "bless you" to anyone that sneezes. Do people really think of the deep meaning of "bless you"? No, of course not. It is a habit and nothing more. The same applies to "I love you".
