Back in the day, no matter how tough things got, couples actually understood that they had to work together to make it through. They were willing to ride out the storm, side by side. Now completely different story. Everyone’s chasing this perfect life they see on social media. Nobody’s happy with what they’ve got. everyone’s constantly comparing, constantly measuring their own life against someone else’s highlight reel.


So, Plan B is always ready to go. Excuses are pre packaged. The second things get shaky, people have one foot out the door, already looking for an escape route.

It can, but it's going to be rough. And just because it CAN doesn't mean it will. It really depends on the two people in it and their willingness to keep fighting for each other.

My parents raised 5 of us on a cops salary and with one of us a chronically ill child. But they never gave up. And i'm not going to tell you some fairytale about how they persevered and eventually got everything good that they had coming to them (unless you count Heaven when they passed away). But what their home lacked in money they more than made up in love. They raised 5 good kids 4 who would get married, and because of the shining example they set, they have all stayed married.
