Why does my age-gap relationship attract such harsh judgment from others?

I’m 25 and in a happy, intense relationship with a 45-year-old woman. Recently, we shared a kiss in public, and the reaction from younger girls around us was surprisingly hostile—some even approached us to tell us it was 'wrong.'

It’s ironic, because many of those same people wouldn't hesitate to engage in casual encounters themselves, yet they feel entitled to judge my choices. Is this deep-rooted insecurity, or just a projection of societal conditioning? Why do people feel the need to police connections they don't understand? Looking for some raw perspectives.
