Am I wrong for feeling hurt my partner won’t get a visible tattoo of me?

For a quick background he always said he'd never get a tattoo that's if his spouse in case something went wrong and I was okay with that except I felt a bit hurt that he doesn't want to fully commit if that makes sense. We have compromised a lot and so forth and he agreed on one but he said he'll have it with a sleeve tattoo so it's basically mostly covered up. I got a bit annoyed since this is basically showing that he'll do it to make me stop mentioning it but he'll just cover it up anyway. I understand if he doesn't want to get any tattoos of us but it's just really hurtful that he believes "just in case we won't work out" since he has been planning on proposing and we've talked about getting married so I don't understand why he wouldn't want to unless he thinks that we won't work out in the end.

Ok first of all that’s a screwed up thing to do. Don’t use his love for you against him by trying to make him feel guilty. I can see compromise in a number of things, this isn’t one of them. To me this makes me think you’ll use his love for you against him to make him do what you want. And if I’m being honest, the divorce rates are astronomically high. Usually initiated by women. I have car insurance for a reason. Not because I plan on getting into a car accident but shit does happen. Grow up. He doesn’t want a tattoo. Leave it alone before he walks.

You both need to grow up. If you require a tattoo as proof of commitment, you need help. If he agrees to do it, he needs help. He's at least being somewhat sane by realizing at your ages that "things just might not work out".

Not wanting a permanent tattoo of your partner doesn't mean you're not committed to them or that you think the relationship is going to fail. People can be completely serious about spending their lives together while still acknowledging that life can change. He is being reasonable. If he doesn't even want the tattoo in the first place, I don't think it's fair to pressure him into getting one just to prove his commitment.
