The expression "once bitten, twice shy" exhorts us to learn lessons from our experiences and not repeat our mistakes. I certainly repeated some mistakes when I was younger, such as rescuing girls in distress and expecting gratitude to morph into love, but I have gotten older and wiser (the reason for my user name.) I am far less likely to repeat mistakes now. Now, if I hear the siren's song, I tell the men to lash me to the mast and don't release me until we are well past the siren's island.
Depends businesswise I've lost and made money
Just being cautious is the best advice
I'm generally cautious about everything and am not one of change but eventually accept when nothing else is going to work or the old way is phased out like cheques these days
Definitely. Sometimes one bad experience teaches you a lesson that stays with you for years. You might forgive, heal, and move on, but you become more careful about who gets access to you. The tricky part is learning how to protect yourself without allowing one person's actions to make you suspicious of everyone else. ❤️
Yes I was once bitten when I was 10 and now as an adult I am incredibly cautious and perhaps giving the impression of being shy simply because i don't chase and until I'm sure I won't give in the first instance.
My aim on GAG is to decode love, drama, and all the juicy in-betweens for you.
Yeah, I’ve been “once bitten, twice shy” in relationships. Got lovebombed hard in my early 20s, then ghosted like I never existed. Next relationship, I was super cautious, overthinking every “good morning” text.
My opinion: being shy after hurt is normal, but staying stuck there is the real red flag. Heal, set better boundaries, still dare to fall in love.

Nope. When you get burned in dating or relationships, you know you're probably going to get burned again, but you go back anyway, over and over. Until you succeed, at least.
Uh, no. Perhaps my lack of relationships, being only two serious ones.
I fear no bite...
I become cautious but not shy
Once is enough for me. Lesson learned.
