She keeps apologizing to me?

There's this girl. Once upon a time she knew that I liked her. It's been a couple years.

Our conversations used to be rather short: she was near impossible for me to talk to (though she would talk readily to others). Recently, however, that has changed, and most noteworthy of all, she has started apologizing to me for things all the time, even simple things.

For example, she couldn't give me a ride home (I didn't even ask her myself for one) and a few days later said she was sorry she couldn't. And another time, she didn't respond to a text for an hour or so, and apologized because she was at a party. And yet again, she responded with a simple "No" to a text question, and later mentioned it and apologized for being so short. And there are other times as well.

All these times I had been minding my own business, not thinking anything of them (they were no big deal), when suddenly she brought them up and apologized.

She is trying to show that she is interested in you. She may have been harboring this interest for a long time, say for a couple of years. She probably got somebody's advice lately that if you don't show any interest, she could try and act.

The short answer to a text message is explained by shyness. People find it hard to compose a letter or text message to someone they like a great deal.

One solution would be to talk to her in person, or ask her out, if you feel comfortable.

I think she likes you and/or cares about what you think about her. I also think she might be a really nice person to be around, and when she realizes you once liked her, she tends to treat you a tiny bit more special than others. By the way, do you still like her, or it has passed?

I do still like her, surprisingly enough. It's been a while, and with past girls, feelings faded over time, but not in this case. I am not clinging to her though: I have other girls I am considering, but can't act toward due to temporary space-time limitations.
