Frankly...that's an urban term for a female that the guy is serious about relationship-wise.
That means that he sees you as a long-term girl, and not just a fling. It doesn't mean that he's wielding a wedding ring in his back pocket, but he does see you as a long-term girlfriend at the very least. :)

Hahahaha no idea my girlfriend called me hubby once its confussed aswell
My boyfriend was talking to me (I don't remember the topic) but he said, "...anything to keep the wifey happy." And I looked at him very oddly, I guess because he's never said it again. Even thought we've been together four years, we're no where near ready to get married.
As far as I know Wifey is used when he sees you as a long term girlfriend its doesn't mean that he's on the way of planning the wedding, but it is cute that he sees you as a long term girlfriend, and I don't think you should be cautious of anything.
Even if he says so just to please you, I think it's still great because that means he cares a lot bout your feeling and want to do something to make you happy.

Dont read into it it's a term that's thrown all over these days. Actions speak louder than words. I've heard it before and things have ended and have seen people say it and they end up breaking up.
