Is it weird to date someone you used to babysit?

A few years ago I would babysit my families friends kids, one of the daughters is about 3 years younger then me (I'm 17 she's 14) and she is absolutely stunning now, I know 3 years is a little bit of an age difference, but even a few years ago my parents wanted me to end up together.

We both get along pretty well, I'm not saying I would for sure date her, but I want to see if the possibility is valid, and not super weird.

Ps I know I wouldn't be able to have sex or anything cause its technically illegal lol, If not now how soon in the future would it become ok?

As long as the girl is smart and mature enough for a relationship then go ahead. I'm sorry people are freaking out at you. I agree more with what the anon guy said. Girls mature way faster than guys and girls are in fact attracted to older men. So as long as you aren't taking advantage of her and you really do care about her then I see no problem with you two dating. Especially if both of your parents don't have any problems with it. Just be smart about it.

Also, the way the other girls answers were it was like they thought 14 year old girls are completely clueless and innocent when it comes to dating/having sex which is certainly not the case nowadays. Teenage girls deserve a little more credit than that and so do you. I don't think your intention is to "ruin her innocence" or do things that are disgusting.

Yeah it's creepy because it raises the question, was anything going on when she was a child? Were you thinking sexual thoughts about her a few years ago? She's 14 and you're 17. Unless you're really immature for your age, you have nothing in common besides sex. It's like you're either trying to get underaged naive sex from her, or you're so lame you can't get a girl your own age. And about the PS thing, why is it such a big deal for you to date her if you aren't going to have sex with her? Is the legality issue the only reason why you wouldn't have sex with her? If so, why can't you get a girl your age who it'd be more appropriate for you to mess around with? Unless..that isn't an option

Wow people are getting really offended it seems, lol nothing happened when she was younger, that would fukin messed up, besides, I never said I was planning on trying to date her at this age anway, I'm thinking more of a few years down the road, I was just wondering how weird it would be for a) the age were at, and b) if it would be weird to date someone I previously babysat

Women mature about 3 years faster than men, so it is not weird, or disgusting like some prudes think it is. Because of the fact that woman mature faster, men are attracted to them at a younger age than what women are attracted to men. There is a big difference in the development of a 14 year old male, and a 14 year old female. Most 14 year old women are interested in older guys, because the guys there age are still underdeveloped.

We are overprotecting young adults in this culture and that is just the way it is. I would just say that the law is the law, and you need to be careful, or else you could get hurt by this ridiculous law.
