My boyfriend says I love and miss you to a female friend. Is this normal?

I recently discovered that my boyfriend sends Facebook messages to a close female friend that says I love you and I miss you. He told her that "I miss you more than you will ever know". I confronted him about this saying it makes me uncomfortable and I feel like there's hidden feeling between them, which he denies there are. He told me that he loves her but is not in love with her. The reason I know this, is because I was "snooping" on his open Facebook page...which I know I shouldn't have been doing in the first place. That was the first time I've ever did that. But, I've tried a couple times now to explain my feelings and he just gets defensive and turns it around on me saying that this whole situation is my fault and now he cannot trust me. But I feel like I can't trust him now either. He explained to me that he says I love you and I miss you to all of his close friends (guys too). His female friend is long distance and is also engaged, by the way. I feel like we are both at a loss here. I do not know what to do in this situation. Please help!
