My boyfriend doesn't like me being assertive?

I've been with my boyfriend a little over 3 months and he's always been the one to initiate everything. he's pretty aggressive when it comes to making out and I'm sort of shy because he's my first boyfriend.

the times that I tried to initiate something, he sort of backs off and looks at me like he's confused. I thought he'd like it if I showed a little more aggression in these situations but he just seems freaked out. he even told me that he's not sure if he would be able to handle my affections as a joke.

Do some guys not like it when their girlfriend tries to take a little control?

I personally think it's kinda hot when a girl takes over like that, especially if I know she won't back down. Your boyfriend apparently doesn't. It's probably nothing and if it doesn't bother you, don't let it. However, here's what it looks like from an outside perspective: The reason he's dating you is because he feels like a knight in shining armor saving the helpless princess. You haven't had a boyfriend before, so he gets to be the fearless leader showing you a relationship for the first time, and if you start to show any signs of autonomy and being strong, he gets uncomfortable. He might end up being too controlling later on, so I'd be careful of this kind of thing. If you take a step back and realize you never make any decisions, or initiate anything, you should call him on it and confront him about it.

I guess some of them don't. That seems a little strange though, I imagine most guys would love that. I'm super aggressive as in I will just grab it if I want to, and I've never had any problems but everyone is different. Maybe he just likes to feel like The Man
