When is an acceptable time to confess your love?

I want to know what other people have found to be too soon, or way overdue. A few weeks? Months? a year?

I've been with my guy three months now, I think it's too soon but now have to hold back words because of it.

I DISAGREE with the people that say "when you know he feels the same." That's not love! Love is not...ooo I might love you but I need you to love me first-it's just something you feel in your heart-not something that is negociated. You can give love but the other person may or may not feel the same. The best thing you can do is the golden rule "treat others how you want to be treated." Or in other words, show love so you may get it.

There are two ways you can think of this:

1) He may die tomorrow, you never know, and if he dies-will he have known that you loved him? Aprreciate the people in your life while you can.

2) Personally, I would rather have someone SHOW me that they loved me than tell me. Contrary to belief, love is not a word, it's an action. So many people misuse the word and don't back it up with repect, honor, kindness, patience, etc. You can just let him know you love him through your actions-and I think he will get the point, and he will probablly end up saying it first. If you think he isn't getting the point...just tell him!

You can not put a time limit in love. But for me, it takes a LONG TIME to know someone and love them because people are never their real selves in the beginning of a relationship. You really need to go through all kinds of seasons-good and bad to test the love. Also, I have already loved someone...and I think I gave him all the love I had because I feel like I don't have anymore to give to someone else even though I wish I could lol

I think it depends on everyone and their relationship..the people. everything.

ive never been in love, but I think when you are you just know, so say it. I wouldn't recommend in the first few weeks..you don't wanna say it and him not saying it back, but 3 months sounds good enough to me

There is no time table, but I bet if there were a study a large majority say it around three months. Talking to some friends and with personal experiences that seems to have been my experience. It also seems like the girl is first to say it, but I don't have any evidence to support that idea.

Love is so complicated sometimes...

I've found that females do tend to admit their feelings first in a relationship.

& I see nothing wrong with this at all, it just catches us guys off guard sometimes.

My advice would be to be sure that he feels the same as you do...

How would you know? Through his actions...

I know in the beginning of many relationships, people tend to go very strong.

Going all out to prove how much they care.

Love is so much stronger than a feeling.

Don't be blinded by the immediate feeling of emotion.

You may not understand what I mean when I say that JESUS is love, but he is the perfect example. Love is unconditional... No matter how you feel about this person, tomorrow you will still love them. Whether they cheat on you, or what ever they do... Now that's love. I'm not saying you should still be with them after said events, but that love for their life never goes away.

I told my girlfriend I loved her after like 3 weeks I think.

I actually said it first. She was shocked, and was trying to say it back, but sometimes I can be so deep when I talk, that she was tryin to match me, and I knew what she was saying.

I knew though, that aside from my emotions, that I wanted her to be mine.

She has the personality of a loving person, and caring person and I love that.

If you love him, it can't be limited by some rules! You should not wait or do something by calculating time or something else. If you really love him and care about him, let him know this...

No matter what people say, it's your love... I would wait if I am not sure about my feelings. But when I am truly in love with somebody, why waiting?

There is no set time a person should say "I love you". I think that if you truly feel it than you can say it. Often times, people get love mixed up for other feelings. I have been known to never say it with my boyfriend but it took me few months to say it with my fiance. Mind you, we have known each other for years but have been official for a little over a year.

Love itself is about taking a chance so saying it goes along with it. It doesn't matter who says it first. As long as it's real and pure than all the more power to them.

There is no real time table for saying "I love you". It depending on the relationship and the people inside it. When you are comfortable you should say it because your partner may very well be waiting for YOU to say it. Don't over think things like this, it can kill a relationship instead of grow it.

I think three months is more than enough time to wait. In fact, I waited one month, and it felt like a long time, as I knew it three weeks before. Turns out she did as well, so we waited only so the other wouldn't think we were impetuous.

The only reason you should hold back and wait is because you're worried it might cause your partner to back out because you're too committed, too soon. And unless you've got a really casual or open relationship, I think a month or two is a perfectly reasonable timeframe for you both to be nice and committed to the relationship.

It's only when someone starts declaring love after a week or two that you get a little freaked out.
