I take it that you think an intelligent god would have a book written so that extremely faulty and unintelligent humans would need to "interpret" his words to mean something else? Yup, sounds legit.
Not really. They are extremely clear. Meditating does nothing. There's a reason why Christianity split into over 40,000 denominations. All these humans think they know better than everyone else. XD Yeah, clearly no clue. Everyone "hearing god" and somehow getting entirely different messages...
@wolfcat87 don't make mistake in always going in head first based off your own understanding-you might end up suffering for it... greatly-like i did. someone i cared about deeply was going through problems-i thought i could help her... turned out i ended up not thinking about what i was saying at all
The same god who could tell them to not eat shell-fish and not wear mixed clothes made from mixed fibers couldn't tell them to not own humans as property? That seems like a far weaker god than the bible depicts doesn't it?
god can speak til his face turns blue-it's up to each of us to listen-sadly, the bible is full of accounts of those who didn't-are you familiar with the scriptures pertaining t the story of naoh?
Are you talking about Noah's ark? or another part of the story? Perhaps people wouldn't listen, but we're talking here about what god is commanding. Imagine if, instead of, god plaguing the Hebrews for not exterminating an entire people group he made a law against owning humans and punished them for that.
a command is worthless without anyone to listen. i can go on a list of commands-like you shall not murder-how many times do we hear a case where someone was murdered? god did give rules about treatment of slaves-and for those who who did obey them-treated them better than most people treat each other now-Leviticus 25:39, 40 39 “‘If your brother who lives nearby becomes poor and he has to sell himself to you, a you must not force him to do slave labor. b 40 He should be treated like a hired worker, c like a settler. He should serve with you until the Jubilee year.

kinky.
i take it you don't understand what symbolism is?
slavery was before the bible was even written
I take it that you think an intelligent god would have a book written so that extremely faulty and unintelligent humans would need to "interpret" his words to mean something else? Yup, sounds legit.
@wolfcat87 hence why we are encouraged to truly meditate. words are can easily be misinterpreted.

you've only proven my point-i had a discussion exactly like this before-i had to really meditate before i was every to understand and explain it
@wolfcat87
I'm not arguing that a special interpretation can be made to fit.
I'm just pointing to all the scriptures I'm aware of about slavery and stating what they say. It's like a normal straight forward literature review.
like i said-slavery was already established before the bible was written-however-it was like any other job-there were rules on both sides
I didn't say there wasn't. Did you think I was arguing that Hebrews started the slave trade?
just stating. i mean-let's be honest-had he come straight out and said ''stop slavery'' how many would have listened?
The same god who could tell them to not eat shell-fish and not wear mixed clothes made from mixed fibers couldn't tell them to not own humans as property? That seems like a far weaker god than the bible depicts doesn't it?
*clothes from mixed fibers.* XD

Would be completely different right?

Wait... Did you not even bother to read this little article?
Read it and get back to me. There's no point in trading verse for verse when I've listed all of them above.
