So, one day I went to a discussion club and the topic was this although that day I didn't speak much or argue much , I just said few words and it was at the end of the session and everyone was blown away by that , and that line I will save till the end in here too.

Lets start and see what we have here :

- Jobs

Yes I mean it , working in a job these days means that your boss owns your soul in most countries of the world , who here can say that I can be late for work as long as I am doing good at it without any consequences ?

Who here can say that I will take tomorrow off because I want to or that they have some family matter to take care of ?

Not many I guess , that is one side of the slavery , another thing that is in order to get ahead in life and make more money we have to keep working our asses off 24\7 and kiss our bosses ass to get a raise or to destroy our colleagues to get ahead of them, among many things that are too disgusting to say, sadly these things happen.

Mainly , this is why I took a job with half the salary ,so I would be free as long as I do my tasks and I am much more relieved with this job.

I see that we all deserve that raise , not just one , we aren't machines that works 24\7 to get ahead in life, everyone is doing a good job and they deserve a raise for their dedication and work.

- House workers ( Maids)

Don't do this please !!!

I guess it is closer to taking advantage of workers than most regular jobs, specially when people hire a house worker that is foreign , that is when the house owners might ban them from traveling or going out of the house and many things.

For this case I see that we should have more respect to house worker and stop spreading stereotypes ideas about them , I see it mostly in TV and it is bad .

- Child Labor

This is a big issue , it is so wrong for a child to have to work and provide for themselves or their families , they are still too young to care about money and they should be working on themselves instead of working, sadly this happens in many countries (specially third world countries ) thanks to our great system for child support or child care that never do anything about this.

- Social Media

This one is really wide spread like a disease , it is affecting our daily lives without even knowing so and in many ways that might be material or emotional or even affect our thoughts .

How many times you have seen a picture of a perfect body (of a model ) and it affected your thoughts to want to be as perfect as they are ?

How many times have you seen an advertisement repeated and you just kept seeing and then you couldn't stop thinking about that thing and went to buy it ?

How many times have you seen a specific news all over the media and it built a bad image in your head about something ?

and the list goes on ......

Social media is becoming a political tool rather than a free stage of speech , it is now controlling our daily lives and affecting many things around us.

In the end , there are many forms of modern day slavery , but I chose those that I could think of and could talk about, there is sex slavery , human trafficking and more.

So here is the line that I mentioned in the beginning

We are enslaved by the things around us, the materials we buy the media that tells us to consume a brand or that we should buy this and that or do something that we don't like, because society will give us a bad look if we didn't , until we are free from that we will be forever enslaved .

Finally I think we are never 100% free as long as we are alive.

I disagree with all but child slavery.

People have free will and the ability to choose for themselves. A child does not.

You can mostly do what you want in life. You are free. The only way your freedom can be taken from you is by force. If nobody forced you, you are free. It is up to you to get up and decide what you will do each day. Nobody makes these decisions for you. You are free even if you think working a hard job is too hard or not worth it. What else did you want as an alternative? To go back to living off of the land? Because that is the only alternative.

Can you survive without money? can you actually work for 9 hours a day and enjoy the rest of your day?
Life isn't simple , we have to work I agree but haven't you thought that we all work to secure ourselves , but that is not enough so we need to work our asses off?
I can tell you that I would have loved to do many things in my life, but it is impossible to do because you have 9 hours wasted (minimum) with work

@AbdKilani It's us humans that came up with these concepts and systems of money. There was never any money before when humans beings weren't even part of this planet yet. It only came into existence after over the course of our species history and as it developed and "evolved". So now the reality is what it is: the majority is just running the hamster wheel over and over again perpetually all just to make ends meet.

You know what they say? "MONEY MAKES THE WORLD GO 'ROUND" and "MONEY TALKS, BULLSHIT WALKS."

@AbdKilani I even feel and think that everything was already fine and sufficient on this planet as it was before humans had arrived and then became part of this planet and added to it. Added to this chaotic and absurd mess. Maybe that might be the most controversial and unpopular opinion or perspective of mines but whatever. I mean I even look and analyze how other planets and even our sun itself, they're all void of biospheres, no life ever started or began on any of them (though debatable in the case of mars I suppose), unless you count bacteria, germs, etc., there are no "intelligent" life on any of them specifically. Nothing ever born and nothing ever suffered nor died on any of them, so no conflicts, no miseries nor unhappiness nor joy either had ever occurred. And they are all doing perfectly fine without any of it, simply because there isn't a "need" for any of it.

But it's too late now, reality is reality, it is what it is now and we'll all have to follow through with it.

The thing in reality is that ultimately, we all have very little control, if any control at all over whatever and anything that CAN happen and WILL happen.

I don't agree with child labor but I don't see how having a job is enslavement. If you were forced to remain at that job forever, that's enslavement. If you aren't valuable enough to other employers, that's something you did to yourself. You would be the reason you have to stay in a job you hate. Comparing a modern full-time job to slavery is rather ignorant unless you want to specify specific countries and/or jobs. Any predicament that you find yourself in where you feel like a slave in a free country is your fault.

The moment we we brought into existence, we are thrown into this cold harsh reality of miseries and suffering and then we have inevitably die some day that was never our choice or decision in the very first place to come here into this world. Only those that are never conceived and never born are truly "free" as they are never part of any of this and never involved in any form or way with this world.

Once we are brought into existence we become trapped in these prisons of flesh, blood, bones, bio-organic matter and materials; vessels for our dna.

Life is just 4 things if you look at it rationally:

Consumption, Reproduction, Cannibalism (the killing of things of equal value), and Addiction

In my case I made the choice to not put and condemn another person into this world and have to experience and go through all of that in which they have no need to go through at all. Because that's the only control I think and believe that I really have over.

The majority find it to be taboo and frown upon it though. They have this irrational fear that if one or a few of us think this way about it, that eventually everybody will think and feel the same way and give up and stop procreating altogether and that the human species will become extinct. The reality is that NOTHING and NOBODY is FOREVER or PERMANENT. Everything will run its course and then it will expire eventually and inevitably. Therefore the fear that they have is completely irrational.

Some are probably upset and deep inside regret their decision and choice to bring someone new into existence and isn't really as "happy" nor "satisfied" about it as they claimed that they are and want others to share the same miseries they are going through or have gone through, which is why they try to discriminate, put down, belittle, etc. others that are different than they are, see and feel differently about things in reality than they do.

Bad mytake.
1) Jobs create what we eat, wear, and use. Without work, we have nothing. Doesn't matter whose the boss, we all work or live of the work of others we actually enslave (looking at you, welfare recipients!).
2) Outside the middle east, foreign domestic workers have rights and protections. Anyone abusing them here is BREAKING THE LAW and should be jailed. Period.
3) Child labor, while horrible, is the lessor of two evils for these kids. People need to eat, and not every nation has the resources to feed them. There are worse things than working for what you have, and denying them a job would leave them to either starve, be exterminated (like they did in the Philippines with motorcycle death squads), or force them to turn to less savory options like prostitution or crime.
4) Seeing something better and being envious is not slavery, it is envy. You can be whatever you want, and you don't have to want to be better or have more. Learn to be content.
5) We are ALL free, it is just a question of the prices we pay. We can do and be whatever we set ourselves to, but that does not mean it will be handed to us. We have to EARN it, CREATE it by the sweat, blood and tears we shed laboring for it.
6) Finally, I'd say that this distracts from REAL slavery, like those captured and sold in open air markets in Libya, or forced into sweatshops upon pain of death in China. Do not cheapen the term.

If we aren't happy then the money we earn won't make us much happier, so this was my focus point that sometimes you have to seek freedom at job.
Second, I did mention that there are many kinds of slavery but I didn't talk about it because I can't get a good view on such a topic because it is mostly done underground.

Well the job only enslaves people in need of money. So being in need of money is the problem. And we are often in need of money because we are consumers. We buy things on credit and spend even more money than we have. Now we rely on our job to pay of the credit. We don’t own things anymore. In the past a mechanic was the owner of his working tools. Now he is only an employee. The owner is a person who might not even know how to handle the tools. While we are enslaved by money the rich make their money work for them.

So why do we buy things we can’t effort? Because we aren’t only a slave of money we are enslaved by greed and the fear of losing what we got too. We do believe that we can buy happiness with a bigger house or recognition with a new iPhone. We need those things to get the feeling of belonging to our group of friends who have the same fancy things. Because we compare ourselves too much to others. (Social Media)
So now we get to the point that we are a slave of society that forms us. We aren’t what we think we are. We are what we think others think about us.
We are slaves as long as external events determine if we should be happy or not.
We are slaves as long as things hold us back to live the life we want to live
We are slaves as long as other people’s opinions weight more than our own.
We are slaves as long as we don’t stand up for our rights and against injustice

And we put that slavery on ourselves.

As someone who lives in a western nation but whose city still has a major sex and labour slave trade issue being fought, and as someone who has taken looks into what modern slavery looks like (as in someone who has no real attachment to it outside of the arbitrary and a lamemans knowledge) i find this mytake as being deeply disturbing in how shallow it is.
Also portteays an extremely underdeveloped understanding of slavery and even working conditions on a global level in general. Anyone who compares them not having the luxury of taking time off work without seeing some reprocussion be it imposed or just you not achieving what you would have liked should spend a week digging for blood diamonds

Backed away from some social media. As for my job I receive about 15 cents per year as a raise.. on the plus side they do provide decent health insurance and the yearly bonuses are pretty decent.

So all in all the fact that I don't make a hell of a lot of money, under $20 per hour, is sort of balanced out by the back that this is the only company and job in my state. That I have found pays a decent amount to their employees.

All other companies will keep you as a short term contractors, with no chance of actually becoming a full time help desk employee. So all others in this field, may make up to twice what I make, but that's during the months they actually work. When their contract ends or they're laid off, they spend just as many months looking for new employment.

I know of previous co-workers who have worked for three different employers in the past year, with weeks or a month or two of unemployment between. While I've been "reasonably" comfortably employed.

My brother is in the same position, he quit because of the higher mangament enslaved everyone and he tried as much to get his team off it, but they fired him and now he is jobless for one and a half year..
