Every Buddhist temple across every kingdom and empire in Asia used to buy and sell little girls as temple prostitutes, but nobody ever gives them any shit, lol.
Why would that be funny, that's like me conflating Napoleon Bonaparte and Charlemagne. Where's the joke? Unless the punchline was supposed to be "this guy's an idiot..."
Jesus followers sure appreciated him. unfortunately, you cannot rely on human beings, we are all corrupt... Bible says so... Catholic is a structure to convey an image and message, but with lots of humans... so it is flawed x100. To me, that is the driver for the other church structure... direct without the layers of corruption. Pope says good things, others do as well. It all has it's flaws. But I wouldn't discard what Jesus did, he was a genius at healing deep wounds, understood the human being... it's flaws... and a way to recover some of them. Nothing but respect from me!
Not really. The Biblical definition of slavery includes anybody who works for someone else, anyone who doesn't own their own land/business is technically a slave. Look up how the Bible says slaves are to be treated and what rights they should have and you'll notice that Biblical slaves have it much better than modern wage slaves.
Under Biblical slavery, you work for seven years and your master has to set you free and provide you with your own household, that means your own means of support, like your own small business. That's better than going into debt to get a degree so you can work as a bartender or a barista or an assistant produce manager at a grocery store until the day you die. People should be clamoring to bring Biblical slavery back.
As for bigotry, you probably refer to all the tribes that the Israelites were ordered to kill. Of course the Bible is specific about who these people were, what they were, and why they needed to be exterminated even down to their livestock, but nobody reads that bit. They were cavorting with demons and demons' offspring and their DNA had become corrupted. If you read the actual Bible, instead of reading snippets quoted out of context by people trying to discredit the Bible, you'd be aware of what it actually says.
@Bananaman177 Joesephus was born in 60 CE, that's 30 years after Jesus was supposedly crucified. Hearsay evidence is not evidence. Imagine re-telling the same story for 30 years without ever writing it down, it's no longer the same story. I'm guessing you believe Xenu existed because L. Ron Hubbard wrote a book about it millions of years after the supposed accounts.
Yeah, that's like 95% of all the History we have recorded is just some shit some asshole wrote on some tablet or some scroll.
Personally, I think saying Christ isn't God is one thing, that makes sense, but trying to act like there literally was no such person is just a joke, it requires the most extreme cherrypicking and selective skepticism and moving of goalposts to make such an argument.
You can't just selectively throw out one guy because you hate him for religious reasons but then turn around and say you're not gonna throw out Alexander the Great.
Like, prove to me that Alexander the Great was a real person right now without using anything that could be construed as hearsay evidence.
You're only applying this hyper-skepticism to one guy in particular, and for completely different reasons than for love of Historical scrutiny. You don't give a shit about Hamurabi. But this Jesus motherfucker, you just CAN'T STAND!!!
I think you should just say that instead of trying to play mental gymnastics with History.
And most historians agree they can't trust what was written because people back then believed in vampires, fairies and other bullshit. We need physical evidence and multiple writing sources. Any scientist would say nothing is proven without evidence. Do you believe in all the written accounts of other mythical people like Horus, Zeus and Thor? Did they exist because many people wrote about them long after they did their magic shit?
Yeah, the way he restored sight to the blind, strength to the lame, and peace to the afflicted. The way he spoke truth to power and railed against the corruption of the religious authorities of his day so effectively that they forced the government of Rome to put him to death just to silence his criticism. What a psycho.
Once you become a Christian... It is anything but boring. I am involved in spiritual warfare on a regular basis; demons don't like me very much, so I experience a lot of paranormal activity :/ But Jesus is always there ^^

No, because I'm afraid of being molested. Jesus is friends with the Catholic church and we all know how many pedophiles are in the Christian church.

@Bananaman177 I don't remember Buddha having sex with a 9 year old like Jesus did.
Why would that be funny, that's like me conflating Napoleon Bonaparte and Charlemagne. Where's the joke? Unless the punchline was supposed to be "this guy's an idiot..."
@Bananaman177 Jesus was a freak and he supports the Catholic church which is run by pedos.

The bible condones slavery and bigotry.

@Bananaman177 Jesus didn't exist and the bible was written by unknown authors.

That's weird. Josephus wrote about him.

Well you just threw out about 95% of History, in addition to Jesus.
That's rough. I guess you believe there was no Rome either.
@Bananaman177 did you understand what I said? Hearsay evidence is not evidence.

Hell no, the guy was a psychopath.
Yeah, the way he restored sight to the blind, strength to the lame, and peace to the afflicted. Boring!
Any ideas on how to make saving people from their miseries more exciting?
