The Binary of Soul Salt: My Personal Opinion

Salt serves different functions in society and can symbolize different things in scripture but what I’ve noticed is that in scripture, salt is both a sign of honour and a sign for dishonour: It is used on the offerings in God’s temple to establish social and moral value in religious ritual and it is used as an isolating descriptor on those who are socially despised for turning from God: Lot’s wife was turned into a pillar of salt as punishment for prioritizing her own past over the will of God.

So I’ve concluded that one potential meaning for salt is Justice, to be turned into a pillar of salted Justice could be an example of being transformed into an example of God’s wrath or pillar of just punishment for sin. Likewise salt satisfies the body and tells us when a food is high in protein because high protein foods tend to be salty. Salt is also a life saving variable and the pursuit of just living saves you from damnation and Justice saves your life on earth from the intrigues of malicious religion haters.

Salt is also a symbol for wisdom because wisdom can be good or evil depending on whether it is founded on moral principles or on destructive tactics of social manipulation and exploitation, whether it’s founded on spiritual inclusion and kindness or whether it’s founded on vanity and superficial egotism or self bias. So wisdom can be a wisdom that saves lives or a wisdom that marks the nature of your spiritual destruction and death.

And while Justice and Wisdom or Salt are essential daily features of a healthy lifestyle, than cannot sustain life without fresh water that is untainted by sea salt. So forgiveness has to be combined with Justice to keep you alive and cannot be excluded on the basis of Justice. Likewise ignorance about the unworthiness of others must be combined with wisdom about how to live and innocence cannot be totally excluded in favour of an purely wisdom approach to life.

Humans need to taste both Justice and forgiveness, both salt and fresh water.

Humans need both wisdom and ignorance, both saline and refreshing liquid.
