What I learned about carving your niche - bible talk

In the bible, the men of Isaac tried to build a well and failed in their first two attempts because their enemies stopped up the well but their third attempt was a success. This helped me understand what it means to carve out your niche.

When I was in my late teens I wanted to make myself as pretty as possible so that I could attract a boyfriend. Two woman, far more intelligent and pretty than me beat me to it and ended up being closer to the guys I liked than I was but later on I realized I had a sense of humour and innocence and quirkiness that nobody could match and even guys with PhD’s liked me because I was so uniquely child like and sweet. I did not become the beauty queen or the Harvard genius I wanted to be but I got the ability to attract men.

When I was in university I wanted to be the best student in the class but two ladies far more intelligent than me beat me to it and stole my rank as number 1, but I later realized realized I wanted to study psychotherapy or education or communication and webpage design, rather than religion and history.

When I got into the working world, I desperately wanted to get transferred into another department at my job cause I knew my department was closing down and was jealous when another woman was chosen for the transfer over me. Later I wanted to be an author and was upset when a lady seemed to be more successful at writing creative fiction than me. I later decided that I wanted to write religious self help and moral philosophy and not creative story and now my writing is fairly easy.
