How to find happiness in God

God gives happiness to his followers but there are two reasons not all believers are happy

1 - There is a time delay from the time you are tested and humbled or persecuted to the time you gain happiness

2 - Happiness requires both obedience and productive sacrifice and obedience requires making sure others are happy and sacrifice involves seeking God and not just accepting the amount of faith you were first given at baptism, you must build and increase the faith that God has given you and not be passive about your religion.

Thank you for bringing up this topic.

I have been a believer for for about 15 years now and humbly think this matter of happiness in God deserves a better explanation that I dont see that often.

Bad circunstances cause unhapiness, which is perfectly natural, but faith brings up JOY.

And JOY ≠ HAPPINESS

I think, as a christian, happiness is highly variable but joy is always there for you in God.

Indeed, in the Bible you can read:

"REJOYCE always." and not "be HAPPY, always"

And since I believe Joy is very dependent on faith and trust in God, one can allways pray form more faith.

I hope this helps somehow, to anyone who strugles with it.

That's a very profound point. I had never considered making a distinction between joy and happiness. I think you're absolutely right about that.

So I can learn to maintain my joy in the Most High, no matter what. Even as happiness comes and goes.

@grapefruit11 that's right. I am happy that you found that helpful. It is sometimes a challenge but with time and the help of God it will get clearer over time. Patience and preserverence are also key here.

Just a quick comment on the last word- religion. I would change it to "relationship".

A person doesn't have to have an official "religion" to have God in their life, through Jesus, and resulting with the indwelling Holy Spirit. They don't even have to have an UN-official religion. They just have to accept Jesus was their Savior, and the One Way to reach the perfect God of Creation.

Simply realize that it doesn't exist and just get on with your life! No more worries about will the invisible man that lives in the sky approve of this or that. As long as it's not hurting anyone, just do it!
